Use Dxtory to input into OBS then.
OBS does the actual recording, Dxtory just captures.

OBS crashes everytime I try to use it with freelancer, I'll see if I can use it as input as seafalcon said
Edit: using Dxtory as input for OBS doesn't work, I just get a black screen

You have to record when it's on input, works just fine for me.

I set up OBS, I start freelancer. I set the video recording window and the windows window that has the keyboard on it. I hit record, and I get a blackscreen with audio and the keyboard. I've also set up dxtory to work with OBS.
I've set my video output to my nvidia graphic card in OBS, I've also set OBS to work this said card. Nothing fixes the problem.

Dxtory has 4 outputs, set them to the resolution and frames you want to record with, the yellow icon on the bottom.
You have to set one of those as input for OBS and make sure you have DirectShow output ticked in Dxtory.

Done all of that, doesn't work. I've watched over 2 hours of tutorials that didn't fix it and read through pretty much the entire forums.

If i hit record I just record normally.
Edit: turns out Intel settings were overwritting the thing. It seems to work now.
And now the keyboard thing doesn't work xd it shows up but it doesn't show the keys I'm pressing

well you don't need file output for Dxtory, just DirectShow if you're recording it with OBS x.x
