Leave as-is and hunt in packs, as that's what pirates should do...only needs one guy to drop the lane while another menaces the trader...and they're more likely to pay up if there are 2 SNs pointing at them...

15 second = Wohoo FREE trade! Piracy terminated!

30 second = For piarets, RP-unfriendly, you dont have time to say more that " Give me X " because longer sentence means trader runs away

60 second = Not too long, but pirate at least have chance to rp ( Yeah, we who want to rp still exist)

90 second = Means trader have to talk out of it instead F3 and " lets wait, maybe he wont shoot in time "

120,150... Thats too long... waiting 2 minutes after some npc shoots lane isnt much of a fun.

I woted for 90, because like to speak more, not just " 2m or die " *shooting lane*

But I guess 60 would be nice and neutral.

:Pgreat the average so far is... 47 seconds:P...

It can be a random number aswell, from let's say 10 to 90 as someone suggested...

30 seconds is fine. Besides, there's an in-game command you can use to say what you want by typing just 2 things.

Tradelane Offline Time - Panzer - 11-21-2008

It's not the downtime, that's getting on my nerves - it's the NPCs who tend to disrupt every single lane I traverse (Record is 5 in a row)

30 seconds is good. a pirate has time to state his demand. Any shorter and "2 mil or die" will be the only demand making sense (well, unless someone can type REALLY fast)

Tradelane Offline Time - Elvin - 11-21-2008

The opinions differ, based of fact if one is more pirate or more trader personality. I more of the first, and I dont really support "2m or die", not even superb fan of pre-typed messages, but hey, one is little old fashioned to want active rp nowdays, in the world of lulz, BHG battleship per trader and such other things.

I personally think 90 seconds would be best. It might get annoying, but you can always cruise to the next one, and it at least gives the pirate some time to RP etc.

Needs to be 60. Traders abuse the glitch where they sit right in the middle of the ring and tap F3 until it comes online, where it will immediately send them flying off. I've been chainfiring 4 codenames into a TL when a trader did that. It immediately fell after it came back online, yet the trader still makes it through. Its irritating and, imo, abusing game mechanics. And just plain cheap.

take your mouse into left hand, aim on ring and fire constantly.... press enter and write;)

Or use shorter sentenses.

For example

If is trader 1 meter from lane in perfect position for dock, dont write

"blablabla blabla blabla blablbla blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabla blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa blaaaaaaaaaaaa blaaaaaaaaa"

but

"bla blaaaa blabla bla bla" pew pew lane "blaaablablabla blabla bla blablaablalbalba"

OR use predefined messages (check server comands) and write something only if trader start cnversation with you
