RE: What can we do about LFs? - Croft - 05-23-2016 Couple ideas I've had regarding LF's: A) Convert House civilian LF's into police cruisers, either by scaling up the models to HF sizes or reworking them completely and add a large version of a Deb as a kind of forward gun. Make a few civilian LF's into dedicated racers and one or two into specialised hyperspace survey ships/scouts. The remainder I'd scale up to HF sizes but allow them to keep the cruise speed making them into interceptors that can still fight without being unhittable or undergunned. B) Remove the class entirely, barring perhaps a few weaponless versions as scouts/racers. C) Change them into some kind of hybrid fighter/freighter abomination RE: What can we do about LFs? - Stone21 - 05-23-2016 and D) None of the above. Leave them as they are, don't ruin them more. They're supposed to be small & fast fighters why would you resize them? Makes no damn sense. RE: What can we do about LFs? - Dr.Linston - 05-23-2016 Removing the light Fighters seems to be a wrong approache as many of the "Freelancer Feel" ships are light Fighters . Either improve the class , i don't know how to be honest Or do nothing and leave it up to everybody themselves if they want to fly a "Bad" ship. It's fun. So much fun it's dirty. I don't die in them, and those guns hit like hammers. If my core goes to zero i just dodge (where no one can hit me), and keep on sitting on people's behinds shooting those Black Widows look-a-likes in damage. As i said, with spatial awareness to mines and other sources of damage, you can live basically forever in a light fighter, and eat snubs for breakfast. I only imagine if someone starts spamming LF clouds. The q_q will be worthy. And i am a zero talent pvp'er. <3 RE: What can we do about LFs? - casualty - 05-23-2016 LFs should be nice for convoy escorts and scouting when the direct combat is unlikely and most of the time you're just expected to warn your convoy in advance of any threat and quickly take an alternate detour. Just that every other shiptype can do the same, PLUS add noteworthy firepower when under attack. RE: What can we do about LFs? - Haste - 05-23-2016 Personally I would consider beefed-up Griffins, Sea Serpents and similarly-sized ships to be suitable for properly balanced and fun Light Fighters. The question is just how to give them some utility that other classes do not have. Tiny ships like the Wyrm and Liberator will always be broken and infuriating to fight if they have ANY stats to work with and I'd rather replace them with larger models. Would likely preserve the old ones for the true fans but I'm really not planning on handing those things 850 m/s high DPS guns again anytime soon
RE: What can we do about LFs? - Antonio - 05-23-2016 LFs aren't bad. In fact if you have a bunch of aces in LFs they'll kill ANY snub force you throw at them, just because of the invincibility part. Sure, you might get a lucky mine hit, but if they really are good I honestly doubt it. The only reason why LFs aren't flown is because they're very unrewarding. You have to constantly be on your guard, deal with terrible dps which means timing your shots to avoid being out of core the entire time, be very careful with not getting mined and in general just tryhard to the max. In return you can die to anything from a lucky mini razor or missile to a nuke, and it can happen in the blink of an eye. Too stressful for most people to deal with, which is why we don't see many LFs out there. P.S. I'm talking about the unhittable top tier LFs like the Liberator, Wyrm and Neko. |
