RE: Moving Disco away from Skype - Skorak - 11-03-2016

I thought you wouldn't be there because you'd be flamed or something.

Well I got discord but so far I'm not really using it.

I already have discord and use it already, wouldn't be much to move my stuff there

Tried it when it came up. Bugged as hell.
Tried again lately. Same result.
Also seeing not many moving to it / knowing who won't. Meh.
Amusingly I didn't get a single hack link since years on skype so eww.

EDIT: I mean it keeps crashing by me, doesn't matter how I turn the options. Jeez I even tried to let it run under a virtual disk under Windows XP and all others.

I found Discord really confusing and awkward to use. Skype is simple and easy to use (accessible to anyone), despite being a really awful program.

Discord requires a lot of digging and learning about it to use it to the fullest.

It's like Linux vs Windows, it might be better, but it's way too awkward and unpopular.

The long and short of it is "we'll use Discord when we start using Discord", which is kinda frustrating, but it's not easy to affect a shift in culture like this overnight.

I mean actually Discord is probably the easiest to use program of them all, and I'd use the Windows vs Linux comparison to compare things like Skype and Discord to IRC clients, which are probably superior in features but much less so in UX.

Also, if you've never gotten a hack link on Skype, then...how? I don't know. I've gotten like three so far this month alone.

(Not to mention that Discord actually gets updates)

You guys know there is no rule saying skype and it was just the easiest thing for everyone to use. I am sure if something better and easier comes around and it catches on, everyone will switch over. You don't need the admins approval to do anything outside of the forums or the server. The admins have no authority over how people communicate in regards to skype.
