I see lakes of tears here and fleets of reports floating on them. Admins will spend many of hours and nerves trying to just determine if it was intentional or not. Most of us noobz can't even say if that mine was intentional, or not.

I have other suggestions, however.

- in case of someone declared dead by non-hostile fire - simply give the reward to hostile one who hit him before that
or...
- automatically remove armours from ships that died by mines and planets on Combat Event Plugay events. They are the ones that should write to Admins and kindly ask for their equipment to be returned back. And Admins will think, rethink, vote for it etc... Own mines are devastating for armours, ya know. Not to mention planets. And insurance companies can't cover it.

There is a reason why we have human beings evaluating and processing sanctions, instead of automation. It will be fine.

5.5 Connecting to the server with more than one character at a time (Multiboxing). Players who share a network connection and play together must not engage in trading/mining while doing so.

So I'm supposed to kick my girlfriend out of the house when I want to trade with her? I don't understand this.

@sindroms ?

I'd love some clarification on this.

The reason the multiboxing rule exists is to prevent players from gaining unfair economic advantage over other players. Sadly, the most common excuse from confirmed cases of multiboxing we see are people stating that their family members play with them, only for us to see that the money generated by doing so is used only by one account. As such, this rule adjustment was needed. Play with your girlfiend all you want, but if either one of you are on a transport, the other should be on something else.

Sindroms, as for the deliberately catapulting ships, me and a few friends like to do that in conn for a bit of fun. As long as it's in Connecticut and permitted by players, is it still fine?

As long as it is not interfering with other battles, yes.

While I see where you're coming from, you have to understand that it's not always an excuse. Mining is one of her favorite activities. Second is transporting people (diplomats, vacationers, etc). My main is a Freelancer trader. So by implementing this you're making it unable for me to play with her. You're limiting our gameplay severely. Sure, we could go pirating together or something, but if that's not what we feel like doing, if it's not something we'd enjoy at a certain point, then the only option we have left is to NOT play.

It's also pointless since I can trade or mine with her if she's somewhere else, and we could theoretically do what you said all the same, only difference is we're not playing in the same house.

Point is, if people want to do what you said, they can do it anyway, even if they're in different houses. The only thing it achieves is separating people, thus driving them away. And I don't think that's the point of the rules. Seeing as how the player pop is dying, the main goal should be player retention, not finding more ways for people to not be able to play.

RE: Admin Notice: Rule changes regarding cheating + Clarification on CDing cloaked ships - sindroms - 02-26-2017

The rule was always there, but the reason why we adjusted and clarified it was not to allow players who play together get into trouble. There is no way to prove these situations one way or another and exceptions to this rule would be too problematic to track. In short, nothing in the rules regarding multiboxing has changed. It is a clarification due to specific instances.

As for your particular example, if your GF is contributing to the server enviroment and roleplaying, then there are no issues from where we stand. It is when people start having their 8yos help them mine is when we are crossing that line. It is no better than having a bot in that case. If a person is not contributing to the roleplay environment even if they are just helping you, we will not treat them as another player.

The issue with multiboxing has always been the most problematic to tackle. I suggest you accept this change as for the better.

Spazzy does it matter if two people are in the same house and give money to the other or if that person is in a different house or place?

RE: Admin Notice: Rule changes regarding cheating + Clarification on CDing cloaked ships - sindroms - 02-26-2017

Nom, I think you might be missing the point of what I said up there. It is not about money exchange between players. It is about players funding their own accounts and ships by having someone who does not own any other characters on the serer fly for them nor contribute to the roleplay while doing so.

As I said, every single reported case of multiboxing is viewed into individually and no case is the same. This is a patch on the rules to make our jobs easier and less trouble for other players. Want to fly with your son? Have him fly a fighter alongside you in that case.

We always roleplay when we play together. She's got a few characters but she's still learning the game. She doesn't care much about the money making part, just enjoys flying pretty ships and carrying RP cargo I guess. Sometimes we like delivering different cargo to different destinations in the same system. So the question is, should I be worried about sanctions in the rare situations when we trade together or should we just stop altogether? (which btw, we only have like 5700 cargo if you add our ships together, so only a bit more than a 5Ker that can be ran by a single person)

I mean it is obvious we are not powertrading together for cash, and while I do have a lot of cash, I made most of it playing alone (smuggling event and random trading/mining).

I am by no means asking for the removal of this rule, I just think it should be more relaxed, depending on the situation. Like you said, for example, if it contributes to the roleplay environment, it should be mostly okay. If it's just powertrading then clearly no.
