Actually an admin posted that, if your ship gets upgraded and you end up with a weaker ship its your choice.. but if your ship gets downgraded and you end up with a stronger ship.. you must pay to downgrade it.

well - there s the good news ... the ships are not gonne be weaker. ( that means - those parts that are rebalanced are part of the ship that change automaticly ) - those parts that cannot be unequipped will never become weaker...
thats why you cannot end up with a stronger ship - but only with a weaker ship.... henceforth, you will not need to rebuy your ship. ( you won t need to spend money to "downgrade" your ship ) - downgraded ships will happen automaticly

Actually--as long as existing power cores remain in the game files--adding new ones to new ship purchases won't affect the old ones at all.
So if you have a Ferguson engine and a new Amalgamated Ships core comes out that is more powerful (or weaker) it wouldn't change yours.
This mod doesn't allow the purchase and installation of cores separately from the ship--but the game has no problem seeing any power core in any ship unless a hook command or its equivalent forbids it.
That said, If new weapons are added or thrusters that consume more power, then you might want to buy the new version of your ship if it comes with a new and more powerful core--though your old one would still "work".

But I've flown it, and I don't recommend it. The center pair of turrets on the top section can't fire forward easily.
