RE: Sol - DLC - SnakThree - 10-22-2017 There's no explanation for jump drives being better than anything Jump Gates can offer. It's just gameplay element to increase fun for players. But we can blame Digital Anvil for that, since I've read somewhere that Sirius Sector was initially named after Sirius which was to be somewhere in the middle of the area. Initial positions for the systems was also quite quirky, e.g. Liberty being around Crow Nebula (what might be explanation about Freeport 7 we know now). Kusari was placed roughly between Lower Barrier and Walker, Bretonia in the Barrier(?) and Taus and Rheinland across area we know as Omicrons (more or less, but not that big into it). It means that there's nothing much left in Solar System, except for radiation, planetary remains and Pluto. I actually hear differently from various Devs. There is no real consensus. However, the extended intro makes the entire universe less interesting and is also a load of handwavium regarding bigpenisicus Cockford. RE: Sol - DLC - Laz - 10-22-2017 (10-22-2017, 10:14 PM)"Jade Fire Wrote:(10-22-2017, 10:08 PM)Toris Wrote: Isn't Solar System in technical reach of current tech from Sirius Sector? If I remember right, the jumpdrives from Starlancer were "slow" enough to make it a great deal for warships to cross Solar System in matter of long days, if not weeks. It is pretty likely that the Sleeper Ships used the exact same tech to arrive into Sirius Systems so it cannot really be that far. That is the Sirius star, not the Sirius sector. The sector was the name given to the giant cluster of stars where FL takes place. Starlancer *ends* as it were in 2200 where the colony ships fled to Sirius. AS stands for after settlement and begins when Liberty arrives in New York. There is no indication of how long this took from what I've researched so any measure of time could be guessed at. It's not. Just.. no. RE: Sol - DLC - Thyrzul - 10-23-2017 If I recall correctly, earlier iterations of the Dev Team claimed to consider the extended intro as canon, unless the current one has announced a different view on it I see no reason to think otherwise. As far as I know the concepts of the Suncrusher were taken from that intro, thus the later created Planetrcusher based on it's greater predecessor can also be originated from that.
I'm also pretty sure a quick search can confirm or deny any of these claims. I myself for sure consider the events of the extended intro canon, although they bear little to no relevance for me. RE: Sol - DLC - Laz - 10-23-2017 The extended intro creates large breaks in the consistency of the lore and creates issues where there are none. RE: Sol - DLC - The Sol Project - 02-10-2018 Bumping this. Content of the first post is still present. Yes, in the end it requires an advanced jumpgate technology therefore a participation of Ageira, EFL or Nomads would be desired. We already started something with the former Ageira lead. |
