RE: The Heaven's Gate Seige | December 15 - 29 (or longer) - The Sovereign - 12-02-2017 Like, if the objective was to NEMP some player controlled ship, so that there is a chance for them to alert people its been launched, theres at least a chance to cd it, this would look a lot better. The fact that there is no way to actually allow the defenders to prevent the event from moving into stage 2 is a massive problem. The entire thing about it being irrelevant who wins the fight in Stage 1 as long as the NEMP hits the station is just bad. Theres no way to pick a launched Nemp out in an on going fight, and too bad for the defenders if the nemp ship is cloaked and decides to get right next to the station from any one of the angles of approach open to it. This entire event looks rigged to favor an unwinnable situation from the defenders side. A 2v2 is nice and all, but having less people than the attackers is already a handicap, and now they need to watch for a single torpedo if they want to "win" the event while already being engaged? Hardly what anyone should be calling a fair opportunity. RE: The Heaven's Gate Seige | December 15 - 29 (or longer) - Emperor Tekagi - 12-02-2017 If you had read the RP, back when I was in BD it was me to handle this, I made more or less clear that BD cannot even afford any large scale fleet movements to help AFC out. EDIT: To make you have to read less: Told AFC we cannot spare a single Togo, maybe 2-3 Kagutsuchi's and a handful of raiders from the already underpopulated base in Honshu due to the occupation with Tomioka. PS: How the new BD| handle this may differ strongly from what was planned back then. EDIT 2: Past this, well, I saw some discussions off forum about this event and it looked like it could be turned into larger thing, so to say starting new stuff about the Arch. (Like seriously, the Arch is stagnant since 24 years inRP, that's pretty meh). Like switching ownership etc, a mini conflict so to say. The fact that there is no way to actually allow the defenders to prevent the event from moving into stage 2 is a massive problem. I suggest you read over the event again. Nothing is rigged. Some things in war happen with nature of it. I could have said "Oh ill just NEMP the base when no one is around" but did i say that? no. The NEMP is to trigger the human defenses to be taken down when the massive surprise spearhead force goes in to infiltrate the station. The fact also that the end of the event will have everything restored to it's order is also making this event not rigged. I could have said "oh this station is mine now if we win" but actually no matter to result, Heaven's Gate will be restored to its current owner and players will have fun in the event. Edits: The structure of events are natural to the progression of how the seige will be played out. Nothing about it is rigged from that perspective as well. We are telling a story and allowing people to participate and have fun. Add losing conditions, make the event interesting instead of making it a show to have AFC boast about having done one thing of significance. Pre-planned RP at it's best. We all spoke in hypertheoticals, "what if's - how would something" etc - we never fully in stone agreed to it. |
