Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - Dieter Schprokets - 02-16-2009 I'm proposing a rule clarification, which should help with this. http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?s=...st&p=499259 Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - zeinstruktor - 02-16-2009 Well, let's say this scenario: I have a freelancer. He has a trading ship, AND a fighter. Both "characters" are the same character in-RP. So, if I get pirated, and I pay, but swear revenge, am I not allowed to hop on my fighter and go back and attack the pirate? It's not re-engaging if no shots were fired, and it's not metagaming because the character would have knowledge of the pirating and would, in-RP, seek revenge. Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - Dieter Schprokets - 02-16-2009 No, because the same logic could apply as follows: Viz Admiral Dieter Schprokets is engaged while in his Cruiser, the Neustadt, and it is destroyed but he escapes in a pod unharmed. He is tracked in to planet New Berlin, gets his Wrath, and goes to hunt those bombers. All perfectly plausible, and in RP, but against the re-engagement rule. The intent of the amendment I proposed is to clarify that being pirated, even with no shots fired = being engaged, to improve clarity of the rules. Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - swift - 02-16-2009 Dieter, could you answer my question on the previous page? Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - FraserTE - 02-16-2009 How cant it be against the engagement rule if nobody was engaged? O that's right Rules hinder rp that is a very crappy double standard especially if he was in his rp rights to engage especially if he rp'd it good. I my self wont speak up against it but in the mean time ure gonna have alot of pissed off people because lets say i get pirated o say 2 hours later im on my outcast and whoa and behold im in sigma 13 where the corsair was he engages me due to rp? without knowledge of that trader that i was but i get sanctioned for re engaging. Same situation its just who engages who first. As i said very crappy double standard I give this one a Fail - 3 points. Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - Benjamin - 02-16-2009 well you already shouldn't have logged on as a character with related RP and gone back to the same system in the first place. Killing someone for revenge of killing some other character of yours is not rules hindering rp. it's rules hindering petty griefing and oorp behaviour that no one wants. Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - FraserTE - 02-16-2009 I never stated i did it my self i was just giving a situation. ie if a player is ignorat that he is re engaging the same player he just did and does not know who the player is would it still be sanctionable is the point i was getting to because that also needs to be clarified. Dieter gave a link at the top of the page where you can pitch it & if it's workable enough, we can implement it. Empty complaints don't help in this case Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - Fozzie - 02-16-2009 But where is the line? If a pirate robs my trader and I decide I've traded enough for the day so I decide to play another char. Do I then have to avoid the pirate? For how long? It's not about revenge so much as an opportunity for good rp that has a background to back it up. If my trader is pirated in the Omicrons and then notifies my order bomber pilot of unlawful activity I should be able to go and rp that pirate and engage if that's how it plays out. This just seems like an excessive rule that definitely restricts the flow of the game. Not only that but it's not a posted rule anywhere I can find, only if you're killed or at least engaged which means shots were fired. I feel we need fewer rules here not more of them. I'm getting to the point where I really can't keep track of all of the rules and now it's wrecking my gameplay for fear of being unreasonably sanctioned. We really should'nt have to spend more time reading rules on this forum than in game but that's what it's coming to I think. Being robbed counts as dying? & Where's the line? - Coin - 02-16-2009 Fozzie: If you got caught, roleplay the hell out of it! You might make a difference to the amount they're asking for. Talk talk talk, and then talk some more. Piracy is a very boring job, they're glad of the interaction. If you want some trader tips, hit my inbox. If you're getting pirated, you're not doing it right. If you've paid, you've a free pass for four hours. (In theory). |
