Freeing up ship names that are taken by people that don't play any more is a good thing though.

It's not like it's hard to refresh your ships once every six months. If that seems like a hassle I think it might be time to accept that you aren't actually interested in playing the game any more.

When you have dozens of shared accounts, across multiple factions, including your own personal and faction ships it's a massive hassle.

I see your point, but christ almighty it's like having a huge weight lifted off my chest now. If it becomes necessary to debate this change again in the future, I think we could/should compromise with a middle ground solution like locked/shared ships don't get wiped.
