RE: Gallic war - Mercarryn - 08-21-2019 @Lythrilux https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=172561&pid=2102509#pid2102509 Said it in that post and I`ll say it again: I still think this is just a nice false flag action sponsored by the Wilde with Gallia receiving the full blame! And meh about NL not being the target for this. Would have been all so much better in terms of moving forward on the general story arc of Disco. RE: Gallic war - Madvillain - 08-21-2019 I'm a bit surprised about the focus on sensation and a oversimplified good versus evil mechanic, where the evil side has little to no justifications for its deeds. It indeed reduces Gallia to a cartoon villain taking away much of the intrigue and morally grey area of war, where both sides can somehow have their characters perhaps doubt their own actions, but believably stand behind them non the less. I have a feeling that the gallic view on things has not been considered and on that note genocidal behaviour and huge imaginary explosions don't make up for lazy storytelling. Edit: with lazy storytelling I don't mean that the story devs are lazy. I mean a way of storytelling that does not put effort in exploring its own history and pre established storylines, in favour of determination of the conclusion first and then filling in the blanks between it. RE: Gallic war - Thunderer - 08-21-2019 Gallia has been the cartoon villain from the start. This is the grand finale which ends the cartoon with a blast. RE: Gallic war - Sombs - 08-21-2019 Despite what most people complained about, the destruction of Leeds' infrastructure makes sense and isn't cartoon-villain-ish at all. Scorched-Earth-scenarios have been a thing for a looooong time in our history, and the bombardement of Leeds actually will put one hell of a stone into the "Allied" way. The bombardement aims for infrastructure, not for the entire destruction, which is a big and significant difference. Bretonia will need a shitload of resources just to maintain what is on Leeds, and even more to rebuild. Resources they can't spend on a new war machine. It puts a time buffer in place, while also serving as a testimony of what Gallia could have done literally any time already but did not. RE: Gallic war - Thunderer - 08-21-2019 Chanteloup said she'd be gone for some time. Is she aboard the Apahanta justifying her vile schemes to Vertiga? What would Maren say? RE: Gallic war - Maltz - 08-21-2019 Gallia just replaced all ageira stuff in Leeds, so retreating isn't that logical. There is an opinion that Charles escaped with the Council fleets standing at New Paris, and no longer available to give the orders. So, maybe, someone else is doing this. |
