It's proposing the consolidation of a sub-forum and a sub-sub-forum into 1. RE: Events need to be more prominent on forums - Pepe - 10-14-2019 (10-14-2019, 03:09 PM)Avalanche Wrote: Banners? You mean the feature which is currently promoting the mod's discord? My proposal doesn't mention banners. We can start a new thread regarding banners if you wish. Server events are "serious" things and attractive to new players, imho. They cover the story. Also story covers them. Player events we sometimes make for fun, tralalala and even nutelalalala. They are not reflecting what Disco really is, especially if I'm writing them goofy. New players would thing we play this game totally wasted. But, with our 16:9 screens there is enough space to promote player things by nice portrait format banners on homepage side, shortcutted to their current threads. Personally I'd like to see Durandals banners for fun things, like player events (and competitions ofc), base sieges and comm thread. P.S. Kudos for "Please help me understand your disagreement". We need more of that. It makes ppl reply with pleasure and best intentions. I'll read your further suggestions with great interest. We could keep them separate but my original proposal of promoting the "Events & Competitions" sub-sub-forum into a sub-forum still is logical and in the best interests of both forum design and community members. Should you agree to the idea of promoting "Events & Competitions" into a sub-forum, I then propose to you why not have "Server Events" as pinned posts within it. Threads within "Server Events" already carry an [Official Event] tag. Imagine members and factions promoting events in 1 dedicated forum which is not hidden inside another forum (such as General Discussions) and pinned above them all are the occasional [Official Event] admin/story lead events. This proposal which consolidates events into one dedicated sub-forum and not sub-sub-forum will make events look more frequent, engaged, encouraged, emphasised and of course the huge bonus would be General Discussions threads/replies would not bump them down from the forum index (front page). Sure, banners could be used for cool thing like you listed. Good in-game activities need good marketing and I'm all for your idea. I do see banners as an unrelated topic to my sub-forum mergers proposal though which I put in the OP. RE: Events need to be more prominent on forums - LaWey - 10-20-2019 Events and competitions in current forms placed in shitty counter intuitive place. I have no clue why that subforum in general discussions and not inside Server Events. Should be moved for long time. RE: Events need to be more prominent on forums - Maltz - 10-21-2019 Server events are rare, so pinning them is pointless. I can't understand why. RE: Events need to be more prominent on forums - sasapinjic - 10-21-2019 I dont know how you people cannot understand what he propose, his intentions is perfectly cleat to me ,he is NOT proposing pinning, special anoucing or aditional advertizing of "silly player events" or putting them on banners ! He simply propose to trow "Events and Competitions" and "Server Events" on same folder in forum ,for better organizing , and for new players be able to find all on one place ,because it is silly to have to look in 2 places when you are searching for events. So they will all be under "Event section" in forum, that has nothing to do with banners or pinning ,to be finded more easy. Once they are in same place, you can can freely destinguish them as "important oficial events" and "silly events" (or whatewer) as much you want . Some portions of forums are in same conditions,so any bit of organizing and tiding place up helps not to get lost and confused, especialy for newcomers,if you want them to keep coming ,that is. I have created an image of what "Events & Competitions" & "Server Events" being merged would look like. Notice player events as the main body and then pinned official events. It looks good right? Having an entirely different subforum for events lead by admins as opposed to player lead events doesn't ultimately make much sense. The pinning feature is for admin/staff content overall. Keep events all in one spot. It's logical, more easily navigable and requires website visitors to find more subforums and click less. It's ok Saspinjic. I may have not explained the OP as clearly as I could. I have created a mock demo of the proposed consolidation which is a few lines above this. I appreciate your clarifying the proposal. RE: [Pending] Event subforum consolidation proposal - sasapinjic - 10-22-2019 Maybe i shuld request forum title "clarifyer" "clarify-dude" , "let me clarify it for you folks" , "translator" or something like that, lol. |
