RE: Warhammer/Makhaira Remake | 7 February - Chronicron - 02-08-2021 ace, very interesting design and gameplay ideas, looking forward to seeing this thing ingame RE: Warhammer/Makhaira Remake | 7 February - Groshyr - 02-08-2021 Agree, looking forward to seeing this thing in-game, hope you can make a complete ship line based on Falcion design RE: Warhammer/Makhaira Remake | 7 February - Toaster - 02-08-2021 Bit of a shame that this is lore-wise just a fighter with a bunch of stuff slapped on - not really a cutter anymore, which is something I actually quite liked as a concept. But looks good. I gotta agree with Save My Soul on one point though: not everything needs to be turned into a complete ship line. What constitutes as a "Cutter" in FL tho? Far as I know that term has never been used anywhere other than this one ship's infocard, and even here the infocard doesn't elaborate on what that's even supposed to be and the ship itself lacks any unique characteristic or functionality to define that classification (unlike Salvager being a "frigate" for example). Current infocard for easy reference: If it's just a matter of lore fluff in its infocard, I doubt the infocard of the ship itself would actually be changing, since the actual description of the infocard fits the new model just as much as the old one, so it'll most likely still be called the "Makhaira Border Worlds Cutter" just with the "Series W" designation dropped, but if there's some unique functionality to the ship that I'm missing, or if there's some common headcanon about that term in FL I'm not aware of, I'd be more than glad to hear about it and see if it can be incorporated into the new mesh as well. This is the first time you're voicing any of these concerns (at least in places I can see), and even your posts here just vent about there being a problem which you seem to be sick and tired of already despite having given me no feedback about it at all until now. I can't read minds, so unless you tell me what the problem actually is I wouldn't know what to fix. Is it the visuals of the model? Is it the lore tweaks behind it? Is it the proposed tech cell shift? or is it something else? What exactly is it you don't like about the proposed remodel and what would you prefer to see happen to the ship instead? Help me understand these and I might be able to tweak the ship in a way that'd make you dislike it less, otherwise, I can't fix the issue when I don't even know what the issue is supposed to be. Don't know if it would ever pass QA again though. RE: Warhammer/Makhaira Remake | 7 February - Toaster - 02-08-2021 (02-08-2021, 02:38 PM)aerelm Wrote: What constitutes as a "Cutter" in FL tho? In my opinion, cutter would make for a good replacement for the rather strange term super heavy fighter. Many SHFs are not technically speaking fighters at all. A cutter was, historically, a small working vessel (compare to Arrastra, Spatial, OSC Shuttle, et al.) and in militaries tended to be the smallest ship classified as a warship. These days, cutter usually refers to some sort of private yacht or to the coast guard vessels employed by the USCG and the UK's equivalent. I feel like it would make a good catchall term that could replace SHF in the long run. Of course this new model could still keep the term in its name, no problem; it's just in my personal headcannon that it wouldn't suit it as well anymore as what is essentially a pimped-out VHF. RE: Warhammer/Makhaira Remake | 7 February - aerelm - 02-08-2021 Yea I'm not a big fan of the whole LF/HF/VHF/SHF subclasses either, they're just weirdly awkward terms and make even less sense given the new direction of balance, so doing something about that across the board would be a welcome change in my book, but that's up to the devs to consider, I don't have any input on that side of things.
Far as I've been told this will still be a SHF balance-wise so the way it actually plays ingame should still be in line with whatever direction balance team is taking with the upcoming SHF rework. And I don't really care about the old model. I don't want to use old model, but I want to use BW SHF. BW, not Barrier Gate. I can't read minds, so unless you tell me what the problem actually is I wouldn't know what to fix. Eh-h... And now seems the time to apologize. I surely reacted too aggressively. I woke up in a bad mood and the news that another one ship would be taken away from me under the pretext of making it better just pissed me off. I'm sorry. I definitely should use the "sandwich rule" in that moment. I'll try to explain the situation as it is, but I don't really hope that anyone here will understand it. I always adhere to certain rules set by me initially when I take on any business, be it work or game, or anything else. Rules, yah. I'd not say that I can't break those, but they just won't give me rest. These obsessions that are difficult to deal with, you know. A-and about this "SHF issue" of mine: some time ago I decided to use BW ships for NO, because I like how they fit them. And I have Makhaira. I made a new character (one ship – one character rule), set up the ship, and enjoyed life. Ish. I'm very meticulous in creating characters, eh. I can sit on wiki, dictionaries, and subject sites for many hours to figure out how to spell this or that name, surname, or a word for ship name. And it's not a burden, but interesting, honestly. A-and now I should... What? Buy a different ship? Delete character? Buying a different ship sounds the most painless, I guess. Because I can't just buy this new remodeled Makhaira now. I know it. I won't let myself. That's why I was mad. You put me in a situation in which my efforts are reduced to zero and I'm powerless to do anything about it. Powerlessness annoys. Yes, I'm sick bitch, and perhaps this is selfish, and even hypocritical (yah, Reeves), but you wanted to know what the problem is. This is it, I guess. RE: Warhammer/Makhaira Remake | 7 February - Toaster - 02-08-2021 I'd just like to point out that this ship is not part of the upcoming Barrier Gate shipline. RE: Warhammer/Makhaira Remake | 7 February - Etaphreven - 02-08-2021 I see drama is still the heart of this community. Been here 14 years and nothing has changed. That's literally enough time for a child to be born and grow the **** up. :P Anyways - quite like the design ae! Would love to see it in-game. |
