Guten Abend Admiral Arnold,

First of all, after returning from the Sigma's, I was surprised to hear of my promotion. Danke für the trust and I will do everything to repay that trust.
My new infiltration mission didn't start well. It seems the Gas Mining Guild got my scent and upped their patrols. I had to fly in the gas fields to keep a low profile. I was forced to lay low at the Junker's Madrid Base for 2 days.

Knowing that I was finally safe, I continued my journey to Sigma 59. However, GMG got word of me being in the system quickly.
I only barely managed to dodge their radars. But I was able to get some intel at least. Attached are images of a Bounty Hunter outpost called Nobeoka and planet Nagoaka. Also I found a GMG station called Niigata Star City. It seems to have quite the population when looking at the traffic coming in and out... also vulnerable and expensive... I'll leave it to Oberkommando's judgement what to make of it.

As I'm taking a lot of heat in Guild territory, I will lay low and stay inside Rheinland borders for a while. I hope this has been sufficient intel to achieve our future comeback in the Sigmas.

Subject: Uncharted systems

Guten Abend Oberkommando,

We were invited by the Kusarian Navy to send a Scoutsgruppe to a newly discovered system. After the Kusarians opened up a jumphole, we followed in. The information I got in these systems were... astonishing... We weren't the first ones however, as the Liberty Navy was a few minutes ahead of us. While it's impossible to scan entire systems with a small Scoutsgruppe, we got enough data to keep the research department busy for months if not years. St.Gallen, another cruiser und me found 3 systems: Earhart, Uncharted System 3 and Uncharted system 10. Attached to this report is footage of our discoveries.

All jumpgates found so far in this system:
Omicron Beta,
Uncharted 3
Uncharted 10
There were also unstable and inactive jumpgates.

Earhart seemed to have unknown machines in the center with jumpgates of an unknown technology around it.

Uncharted 3 had a similar structure like in Earhart, but larger and more massive. Also it was connected with these shielded spheres. I didn't want to get too close as we aren't equipped for this unknown technology.

Uncharted 10 seemed more peaceful, covered in icefields with a few - seemingly- uninhabited planets, more research needs to be done.

We managed to leave through the Omicron Beta jumpgate and artived back safe in Frankfurt. My advise is to send more Scouts und Research teams ASAP to these systems to harness info. We can't allow the other houses to get the upper hand with this data.

Guten Abend Grossadmiral Henze,

I was reassigned for a patrol in Sigma 15 toghether with Leutnant Holzner and Fahnrich Baumann. Meeting up at the centered Freeport 8, we identified 3 Order vessels with callsigns Agent A, Solandros and Eddy Narson. They seemed to be aware of our arrival. Confused and unprepared for this meeting, we decided to hear them out. They seemed to want to talk to us and Leutnant Holzner made the call to follow them. We ended up in a nebula in Sigma 13.

They first asked us what we knew from their organization. Mostly our intel was either outdated or blatantly obvious for the whole of Sirius. Then they started to explain some of their actions, old and recent. The obvious one was they try to hold the Nomads at bay and keep artifacts from spreading. The next one was about their ceasefire with the Corsairs and why. The reason was the Omicrons were becoming a Mexican standoff and having too many enemies would make them unable to focus on the Nomad threats. Then Korporal Beist came in, and well... It seems you Herr, were the one instructing him so i'll leave it at that.

Then they asked if the Military was open for a ceasefire. We would relay this question to you. It seemed there was a tour guide for the Omicrons, but because of the bigger Nomad threat there we postponed this for now. BDM vessels seemed to have picked up our signal. They asked questions, but we asked them kindly to leave the scene, which they did. They might contact Oberkommando for this later. I'll leave that up to you and the rest of the higher-ups.

One more thing... You might also remember a name from some months ago... Eddy. He was the one Vizeadmiral Kunrad reunited with his grandfather, Petter Müller from the lost Bismarck. I asked him about both of them. He was hesitant giving much info but he confirmed they both alive and well, if that would help anything. In any case, you can find the footage and full conversation logs of our "patrol" below.

Herr Admiral,

I have to tell you that I have mixed feelings about this latest report. Your man Lahm certainly reacted well to being put under pressure. And the outcome of the early stage of negotiations shows some promise, despite MND interference.

However - you must be clear to your people that they are to keep their tongues well-guarded. The Order has no need to know that we have had problems with Wild infiltration. If they were to share such intelligence with us now, it would be worthless as confirmation of their abilities. Letting this slip at a critical juncture of trust establishment delays our negotiations.

This brings me to my next point. How was the MND aware of the situation? I will tell you now that only the men on patrol and the Order knew of this meeting. I may discount Beist as he is monitored around the clock, and generally has no time he may call his own, as neither do I. I would apologize for keeping you in the dark, Admiral, but this outcome implies that I was right to do so. You will get answers from your man using any way you see fit, and I will do the same with the Leutnant and the Fahnrich.

If the responses we collate prove satisfactory, I will conclude that the Order passed the information to the MND. Otherwise, I will not suffer a mole in the Rheinwehr - at least not one I have to rely on for secrecy.

I believe we understand one another, Gunter.

Großadmiral,

While I am sure Bootsmann Lahm had good intentions and was rather just referring to the convoy to Gallia, i will reprimand him to make sure he won't repeat things that can be used out of context. Perhaps that promotion was given too quick after all...

As for the MND situation, you answered your own question. Neither me nor my adjutant were made aware of this operation nor of any contact with the Order. He was merely doing a standard patrol in Stuttgart until he received a sudden redirection by your orders. Lahm may have that youthful naivety, but i will not allow having him being accused as a traitor. That is all I have to say on the matter. As for my personal contact with MND, that is limited to joint operations or sudden collaboration in space when the situation sees fit.

Nevertheless, I'll have the personnel in my office investigated. I suggest you do the same if you haven't done so already.

Herr Admiral.

Your initiative concluded as well as anyone could have hoped. To summarize the answer to your main questions: the threat is bigger than even the most pessimistic estimates, and the Order is ill-equiped to deal with it in the long term. The actions and demeanor of the operatives tasked with our escort chillingly remind me of piloten in my battlegroup during the final months of the Libertonian offensive. But unlike the Libertonians, the Nomads are not going to stop, and they will never negotiate. I apologize for speaking out of turn, but this experience has left me shaken and questioning our immediate priorities. I hope you will trust that I will always do my duty, but will Rheinland still be there in 30 years to demand my service?

Upon arrival into Sigma-15, Holzner immediately contacted me about there being eyes near the Freeport. Thankfully, minutes later our contact established a private channel and instructed me to proceed to the Sigma-17 jump hole. I contacted the others and instructed them to lose the eyes, one of whom you will probably recall from multiple prior reports. It seems that in this case as with most previous instances, she did not interfere with a developing op, allowing us to rendezvous without unwanted attention. Holzner has also mentioned Viper being in the area earlier and some intel from her, but I did not detect anything on my way to the RV.

After the rest made it on-board, The Boot instructed us to dock, making a hangar available to fit our vessels, though not without some careful piloting. While we waited for instructions, one of the maintenance crew brough along a selection of alcohol, which I decided to imbibe to avoid causing any incidents. The PA annoucements indicated that we passed through Omicron Theta and Delta, with our final destination being Omicron Minor, though I only figured this out later from the Order Admiral's greeting. After suiting up and exiting the air lock, I flipped on my black box recording, confirming this with everyone on scene.

We were dropped off at a heavily damaged planet, and greeted by the Order Admiral Solandros, along with an escort gunship, callsign Seeker. After the carrier departed, more Order vessels arrived to form the rest of the escorting party. The Admiral proceeded to give us the history of the world, Toledo, which was apparently assaulted by the nomads twice - for its infrastructure, and then its ability to sustain human life. While LIDAR scanned plenty of Core wrecks around the area, I doubt that any of those vessels had the capability to inflict such damage. This was no mere Leeds, and as such can be considered lost forever as a base of operations.

After our discussion in Toledo orbit, we were taken to the ruins of a nomad gate, along with other structures in the vicinity. As part of the explanation, the Admiral claimed that the Core often obtains Azurite Gas by extracting pieces of the collosal ruins, all the while under threat from the smaller nomad forms. As my sensors did not pick up any readings, I assumed that the gate was definitely closed. However, the Admiral claims that many other such gates are present all over the Omicrons and Minor in particular. Though the Outcasts and the Corsairs are likely under greatest risk from these gates, the Admiral believes that House space is just as exposed due to specific channels connecting the Omicrons nearer to our core systems.

As the discussion did not seem to be moving towards showing us something more tangible than ruins, I decided to make the offer you advised. While I do not know if it was seriously considered, the Admiral did decide to proceed with the rest of the "tour", claiming that we needed to see the next part to believe it. We passed into another system, though without nav data and visual galaxy background within the nebula, we could be anywhere in Sirius. After another short cruise, we entered yet another jump hole, this time exiting into a system with a lifeless ice planet and a very unusual galactic backdrop. At this point, we also detected a potential external threat, a Freelancer (callsign Lazurith). The Freelancer warned our group about the Einbeck, which I am sure you have heard of via other classified reports, and departed the area.

We eventually linked up with an Order battlegroup who were seemingly patroling the system, and almost opened fire on our vessels due to their heightened state of alert. The Admiral seemed to smooth the situation, and provided us with new RV coordinates, while requesting heavy asset backup from the battlgroup commander. After getting closer to the RV long-range scans picked up another nomad gate - but this one was certainly operational. Additionally, and by no coincidence, everyone picked up a Kusari-built vessel on LRS with a scrambled IFF. The Order Admiral claimed that flying in this manner was a death sentence in these edge worlds, and made it known to the vessel that they must leave the area or be fired upon. With the heavy assets minutes away, the first group proceeded into the active jump gate to scout out the system. The Admiral claims that this system can be definitively considered nomad-controlled, and that our entry would cause a rapid response.

I proceeded behind the heavy assets as ordered, with the others on my back. We were immediately greeted by heavy overlapping static defense fire from nomad signatures. After clearing the immediate killzone, we were unsurprised to find that the infected Kusari vessel has followed us. The Admiral was already concerned that we were detected at this early stage of insertion, and I concurred that what we had seen thus far would be more than enough to take back. After proceeding a ways away towards a nebula alleged to hide more structures, we turned around towards to gate, and not a moment too soon. A cruiser-sized nomad vessel was proceeding past the static defenses on an intercept course. The Admiral and I were the first back through, with Baumann immediately following, but there was no sign of Holzner. A returning heavy claimed that Holzner's vessel was disabled by the static defense, and deposited his escape pod, which I instructed Baumann to pick up.

The situation was deterioating fast. More infected arrived on scene, this time in a gallic-build vessel. The returning heavy assets reported a nomad battlecruiser-sized vessel on its way to the gate behind the first cruiser. The Admiral instructed us to get to an Order base in-system, Cairo, while they held off the nomads. After receiving coordinates, me and Baumann made our way there, trailed by the Kusari infected. However, upon arrival to Cairo, we were greeted with suspicion and were almost immediately fired upon, the same as the Kusari vessel. Without other Order presence, the security operator rightly assumed that we were infected. After holding position in the hopes of someone with authority giving us clearance, the Kusari infected finally made their move by attacking my ship. Fortunately for us, we were assisted by Revenant, who engaged the hostile and ensured our escape from the area. Though engaged, the Order Admiral provided coordinated to a jump hole to Delta, which we took right before the nomad blockading forces cut us off. After arriving at the hole, I waited for Baumann and coordinated with another Order heavy asset, which left quickly in the direction of the fighting. On the other side, we also barely dodged a familiar signature - The Einbeck, likely called to the action by its nomad masters. Thankfully, its ire was not directed at us, and we were able to make our way to the Freeport in-system, using older coordinates provided to us for this mission.

I decided to travel separately from the Fahnrich, using previous routes from Delta. My return to Rheinland space was completely uneventful. The complete databanks of my Disir are now being processed by our sensors and communication specialists, and will be made available to you shortly:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHWAMbERX2k

I have also attached a preliminary communications transcript.
I will be available for additional interrogation after decontamination and some forced rest assigned to us by the debriefing psychologist.

Subject: Order Liaison Operation

Admiral,

I report our covert meetings with the Order have been concluded successfully. The following is a summary of our collective actions:

Upon our first meeting we made contact with Order operatives at Freeport 8 before departing to a meeting point within Sigma-13. Claims on the Nomad threat were discussed, various military incidents, as well as potential avenues forward and ultimately they displayed a willingness to hold a second meeting. Likely due to the initial contact being made at Freeport-8, BDM operatives had managed to tail us covertly, outside of sensor range, and successfully pursued us to the meeting site. One of the craft curiously matched the IFF of a craft allegedly used by the Bureau's Director. They were successfully persuaded to wave off with promises of information sharing on the meeting. Our flight group returned to Sigma-15 without further incident and mimicked a patrol squadron. The operation ended with a return to the KKS-Schwerin. My own posting, the Kaiser was damaged following operations in Thuringia and this necessitated an extended route and use of the Schwerin. They do not appear to have questioned our operation.

A week after the prior operation we embarked on a second operation. Arriving at Freeport 8 to rally the rest of the flight group, we noted some unusual faces. The Bureau Director was present at the Freeport. Though my scans are lost, I noted they had several unusual weapons. Fire from their vessel seemed to show what may have been some form of plasma weapon. A lengthy search on military networks only managed to obtain a scant reference to something called "VENOM". Additionally, there was a Freelancer and some Technocracy personnel in and around the area. After they departed, the Director informed me on private channels that the Bureau would like to be informed of Technocracy personnel entering Rheinland and that they didn't want them in our space. Considering the events of the Thuringia operation and what I now consider their confirmed presence, this is highly suspect. We rendezvoused with what was ostensibly a civilian carrier of the Bustard class in Sigma-15. They informed us they would take us to meet with Order forces in a system in the Omicrons. This necessitated a lengthy journey where we went largely dark. A later complication meant that any positional data I managed to obtain in this process was lost.

After arriving at our apparent destination, we were greeted with a remote system in a large green nebula. Within was a large ship graveyard and a planet that looked as if it had been cracked open. Scan data showed entire wings of fighters wrecked in the field, from both the Core and the Order. Additionally we scanned the hulks of several capital ships from the two organizations, including battleship scale vessels comparable to an Overlord class, and from their own publications appears to be a Core battlecruiser. Several gunboats and our prior contacts, one Admiral Solandros included met with us. They claimed that in the midst of a Core assault on the planet, which used to be their main base, a Nomad fleet assaulted the system, swept aside both forces and destroyed the planet. No remains from this alleged force could be detected however, but they then had us follow them to an alien ruin. This ruin they claimed was an ancient alien jump gate, albeit one that had overloaded. It was here we first encountered the Nomads. Shimmering blue craft, seemingly without cockpits the size of fighters and firing weapons my sensors couldn't even begin to discern. Additionally my sensors picked up on an unusual gaseous material emanating from the wrecked gate. The Order claims there are many scattered across Sirius, but concentrated in the Omicrons. These gates can be far more powerful than the standard Ageira and EFL ones and thus could see alien invasion forces flood without notice out of them. They did note that it was likely only Corsair and Outcast holdings at immediate major risk, although some could be hidden near or within house space. Korporal Beist did not consider this hard evidence of a major threat and wished for further information or commitment from the Order.

They begrudgingly oblidged and we broke off towards a hole that ended up taking us to Omicron Delta. Along the way, we picked up a Freelancer bearing the callsign Lazurith on our scanners before proceeding into a system known as Omicron-Zeta. The Freelancer followed us and informed us the "RNC-Einbeck" was operating in the area. Having encountered this vessel before, this information was highly concerning. In fact, the vessel operating out here at all was an extreme concern. The Order operatives took us to an outpost they had in the system, overlooking an icey world. Order and Core forces have allegedly been waging a small war over the system for quite some time, we in fact encountered a skirmish mid-flight. After heavy debate they agreed to show us something severely more substantive. Two battleships, notably Arbiter class vessels, originally from the Liberty Insurgency, were called up to escort us into a system they called Omicron-Iota. It was a very impressive display of force, though I advise investigations into the origins of the vessels. Around this time a Kusari ship, claiming to be a KOI operative began tailing us. We decided to warn the ship off with threats of force. It maintained distance but still was in the area near us. Our force pressed on regardless. When we arrived at the gate, we saw it was very much intact, and shockingly we managed to interface with it. Despite my severe reservations about this after seeing the destruction of the Kolleda, and the possibility of hostile forces being alerted to us, we nonetheless proceeded.

Emerging into the system, my sensor suite spontaneously shut down and rebooted. I did not have time to address the issue as a massive weapon platform, which based on appearance seemed alien, immediately began firing on us. We retreated out of range of the enemy fire and the Order ships informed us that retreat would be preferable. This coincided with the arrival of what appeared to be an alien capital ship, the alleged KOI operative and what seemed to be a Gallic vessel. Engines to full, our group began heading back for the gate. My craft would however be hit after a malfunction caused the jump sequence to fail. I was forced to eject before a second hit collapsed my vessel. Fähnrich Baumann managed to recover my pod before we beat a hasty retreat back to Omicron Delta and the Freeport that operates within it. My ship data logs were however lost when my craft was destroyed. Nonetheless, we managed to make it back to Rheinland space intact after a large period undercover to minimize risk of pursuit.

I conclude the following:

1. There is a legitimate threat posed from these forces.
2. The Order possesses a large amount of military hardware and if we choose to support them, though I question the logistics, no more than materiel supply is needed.
3. Our own forces lack the intelligence, tactics and experience necessary to fight these forces adequately.
4. Provided the events we have been told of are truthful, the Core's activities should be called into question.
5. The Bureau's interest in these events should be gauged. The unrelated matter with the Technocracy should also be investigated.

With this in mind I have a request I must make in person to the Admiralty at a later date.

End of report.

Guten Morgen Oberkommando,

I received a comm from an old acquaintance of mine and Admiral Kunrad, Eddy Müller. At first i was surprised the Order would send me personally, but it turned out Eddy sent me on his own behalf. He told me there is something the Rheinwehr should know about. While i understand i didn't have the authorisation, this could be something useful so i tagged along with Eddy.

We sneaked through the Sigma's, passing the Atka Wreck, towards the Omicrons. I must say, the things i've seen were... frightening. We passed through what seemed like a fortified beachhead for the Nomads! Structures of a type i've never seen protecting whatever else is hidden behind those gas pockets... The Order seems to suspect a possible shipyard, but they are unsure as well. This was apparently not the only thing Eddy wanted to show me. There was another jumphole bringing us further into the rabbit hole. We dived in. I was frightened, but my curiosity got the better of me.

We entered a place what is known to some as Omicron Major through a Nomad jumpgate. And there it was, something i have never seen before. A structure as large as the size of a planet, hidden under an equally large gas cloud. Eddy explained to me that this is a Dyson Sphere, a massive construction around a sun to harness all its energy. The Order refers to it as the "Meta Structure". This structure in particular seems to have land inside as well with a Nomad city on it according to Eddy. It was difficult making proper footage, as the amount of Nomad vessels were enormous. We had to dive in, dive out and repeat in order not to get surrounded.

There were 2 notable structures... apart from the the Sphere itself of course. The first one was a large gate used as an entrance to the structure. The Order used to have a key to enter a long time ago, but the code has been changed. It would be some kind of Nomad artifact. Unfortunately the ones that we confiscate are mostly likely not the type we're looking for. The second one was some kind of smaller structure protected by a shield. Probably some kind of fortress of some sorts.

We left through another Nomad jumpgate and crawled back towards Sigma 15, passing a Corsair fleet probably ready to engage Outcasts. When we arrived we discussed and chatted about events that just happened. I hope the footage shown in this report could help Rheinland- and humanity as a whole. I would also ask on behalf of Eddy and myself not to mention his name if and when we contact Order Command about these discoveries. But that is of course up to your judgment, Oberkommando.

Meine Herren.

Bootsmann's Lahm's journey was, without a doubt, the most foolhardy action taken by a member of the Rheinwehr. Do not argue - I have lived through enough wars to have seen heroism and foolishness aplenty. The fact that both he and his friend Eddy are not at this moment creating nomad thralls in some gott-forsaken outpost I leave to the vagaries of the Great Beyond. But now that we have acquired this intel, and my people have finished with Lahm and his data - we must decide what must be done about it.

It has already become clear since my own overtures with the Order that the deep Omicrons are no mere uncharted space. No, rather they are a border, a border with entities more hateful and long-lived than any Libertonian corporate CEO. And based on ongoing threats from these entities, (the latest being not even a day old, need I even mention?), this border is far from secure. Perhaps when the Order was in its prime, its existence could be tacitly supported as an operational buffer. But it is clear that whatever happened during the Nomad War, these people have sacrificed their assets to delay a full-scale invasion. An invasion in which we, Rheinland, were fully complicit in!!

The aftermath of this event has finally settled for our House. The civil war is all but over, and the Hessians have been temporarily removed as a significant threat. I have personally ensured our cordial relation with both the Bretonians and our new Gallic allies, and made concessions to secure our border worlds with the IMG and even the GMG and their Kusari masters. The Libetonians have been a thorn, yes, but the latest president and her Admirals seem content to leave the borders as they were after the war.

We will never have a better opportunity to use our remaining assets against the alien threat. A threat which is not only encroaching on the Omicron buffer, but is already growing within Thuringia. I have heard VIPER and our MND allies sing the praises about the wonders of Dom'Kavash technology they uncovered, both personally, and through my Beist ears. But I think all of us here know that the winning blow will ever be struck by simple soldaten in conventional hulls, reinforced by their iron sense of duty. But this well-honed weapon is about to fail us in these times of widespread peace. We are already losing hulls to overdue maintenance, and losing sharp young minds to the vagaries of the Emperor.

I will require you to submit separate campaign plans about how best to combat the nomad threat, both in the Omicrons away from Rheinland's borders, and within Thuringia. You may consider this to be your top priority, regardless of any other operational responsibilities you possess at the moment. After receiving your recommendations, I will submit my own proposal to the various ministries.

If you have comments, questions, or concerns about my request and prior announcement, you know where to find me. And, I need not remind you that this must be done with the utmost secrecy in mind.

mit Ehre gehen,

Großadmiral,

One thing stood out to me from Lahm's conversation logs, and that is that the Corsairs have battled the Nomads on their home territory in the deep Omicrons multiple times before. Apart from the Order, they seem to be the most experienced in fighting these creatures on the frontline. As a matter of fact, we fought alongside them once against a Nomad convoy in Omicron Zeta and Delta not too long ago.

While this might be far fetched, we could negotiate a temporary ceasefire with the help of the Order. They seem to be on good terms with them. Should that work out, and yes that's a big "should", we can try and arrange an assault in the home territory of the Nomads. I do believe we can hurt them with the fleets of Rheinland, Crete and the Order using a pincer movement. Another option would be the Core, but contact has been sparse these days.

Again, i know this is far fetched and the plan will depend on different factors, but I don't see our fleet alone dealing with Nomads in their lairs.
