Yeah no. This is something that should be discussed transparently everywhere. RE: To Everyone in Ukraine - TheDoctorXI - 02-24-2022 While nothing I say on these forums will ever change anything, my thoughts are with Ukraine, their sovereign citizens and soldiers. I do hope that democracy will prevail and this can end quickly. RE: To Everyone in Ukraine - Jeuge - 02-24-2022 the world is bad. Stay safe, everyone. RE: To Everyone in Ukraine - Mephistoles - 02-24-2022 This is obviously a charged and contentious major world event that some may have strong feelings about that they wish to express. Wishing people well is arguably a neutral standpoint but given the context of the situation it is also a clear gateway to outright political arguments. 1.1 - Materials that are: abusive, adult / pornographic, advertising, defamatory, discriminatory (e.g. racist), graphic, law-violating, obscene, political or vulgar are not allowed. Objectively, there is no difference between person a decrying the invasion of Ukraine, or any other country, and person b supporting it and wishing it success. They are different opinions on the same subject and you cannot permit one and not the other. Rule 1.1 addresses such concerns by asking us to simply not go there in the first place, keeping our forum relatively apolitical and, therefore, as peaceful and inoffensive as possible. My suggestion would be for us to shy away from whether any government's military actions are what could be described as "right" or "wrong" as this is, as described, highly charged and contentious. Personally I would try us leaving this thread open and seeing if we can manage to stand back from the line and limit our posts to equitable expressions of basic human civility. |
