Like all before me, I cast my vote toward "No sir" HF's haven't been forgotten at all. Except by a majority of Indy Pirates after the heavy firepower. Once I discovered the Crow for my trader escort, I'm looking for an excuse to make another char just to have another with a different loadout.:DClose to equal firepower of an Eagle while handles on par with a Griffin.

For myself I only use HF's, for good reasons.
I know enough players who have at least one character in a HF.
No they were not forgotten and should never be.

I think .:j:. makes considerable use of HFs, Crows and Bulldogs specifically.
You know, this takes me back. One of my first topics was about the lack of Heavy Fighters. But there are quite a few more now... Not every series has a usable one, but there's a good number out there for people interested.

Where did you get a point about independants from the posts ? Nobody there said if those chars are factionalised or independant.
I personally tried a Paladin, yet found it doesn't suit my style. I'm more for a heavier rugged beast that can dish out some hurt. It doesn't mean the Paladin isn't a good ship, just not for my flying style.
I tried Hammerhead as well... I can run around and not get hurt, but I just can't hit in those fast things. I'm completely useless in a LF, in HF I'm just subpar.

I rarely saw them before .85, now there's really quite common. Not many in Liberty or Rheinland, sure, but you get a lot in Bretonia and the border and edge worlds. Don't know Kusari really.
