Systems Defence In New York - Niezck - 04-22-2009 I can see it now, a poor newbie angers the local law ... *SHAZAM* The noobie is now more, and his computer just asploded from the graphics requirement. Systems Defence In New York - Capt. Henry Morgan - 04-22-2009 ' Wrote:Should be overkill. It is the Liberty throne world after all. I don't know, Yue. If it hadn't been for the Knights of Labor yesterday, Manhattan would probably still be blockaded by Outcasts and Lane Hackers.... Now, more on topic. I do agree that we need a much more powerful defense for capital planets. All of them should get very powerful defense grids. Platforms are good, though some sort of planet-based defense would be good, too. Systems Defence In New York - Hawkwings - 04-23-2009 I don't think it's the number of weapons that needs to be increased, I think it's the effectiveness of the weapons currently in place. I mean right now, planetary gunners suck at aiming, and their weapons are slow. They do pack a punch though. Make planetary defense weapons (fired from docking rings) much faster and refire faster. Maybe add two weapons platforms flanking them for major and capital planets, with the same sort of loadout. And increase the range on them. I mean, why are there guard systems that are more fortified than a planet? Also, jump gates - they take years and millions of credits to build, why are they so poorly defended? They could also use some more power. Systems Defence In New York - Cellulanus - 04-23-2009 Two things: 1. Weapons platforms are far from useless, during the event awhile back between the LWB/Hessians and RM out side of the prison in Hamburg the weapons platforms did as much if not mode damage as our ships. 2. I heard from a fairly reliable source that NY is full. That is its got as many basses and objects crammed into the things as the game engine can manage and one more thing would turn the system into a black hole so to speak. EDIT: You could just replace station turrets with something that was meant to drop more than a class 2 shield. Systems Defence In New York - Hawkwings - 04-23-2009 Anyone else remember the super beam weapon mod that comes with FLMM? Just boost the damage on that thing a bit and give it to the NY docking ring and Trenton station (which is basically an orbital defense platform anyways) Systems Defence In New York - Shaka - 04-23-2009 ' Wrote:Just boost the damage on that thing a bit O.O Systems Defence In New York - Hawkwings - 04-23-2009 In case you haven't figured it out, I am all for overkill in planetary orbit. There is a reason why unlawfuls should never be seen near major lawful bases. Systems Defence In New York - tansytansey - 04-23-2009 Don't you think the civilians would be a tad bit nervous if suddenly a massive planetary defense system was suddenly erected above Manhattan? That to me screams martial law. Perhaps when Rhienland pushed Libertys' borders back we might see more defenses. If Liberty was as secure as everyone claims it to be, there would not be lone Bloodhound patrols going behind Manhattan. I can see a planetary defense outside New Berlin, but not Manhattan. Systems Defence In New York - Hawkwings - 04-23-2009 Personally, as a good and patriotic law-abiding citizen of Liberty, I would feel much safer if there were big huge guns manned by sharply-uniformed Liberty military officers, keeping their stern gaze on the traffic that goes by Manhattan. You don't want robbers, slavers, and pirates being able to traverse Manhattan orbit safely do you? You aren't one of those socialists or a Suck-land sympathizer, are you? Besides, this wouldn't be "suddenly" built, it's just a progression of the upgrades that have already been put into place. After all, the vanilla docking ring guns weren't as good as they are now, right? |
