In the latest hotfix the mining frequency was reduced and drop rate increased by the same factor to reduce stress on the server.

As for the mining plugin issues, those should also be all patched up. Do let me know if it feels slower than it should be on any specific field and we'll take a look.

I suppose that means that most rocks give you 0 but when you do hit the 'magical' ones, you get big numbers?

Light Miner (Tournez) - always filled (37 units of ore) with the 1 shot, but could take up to 40 shots to get that 1 rock.
Freighter (Aurochs) - 34 shots to fill 325 (highest was 97, lowest (last one to fill) was 37)
Rock Badger - 105 shots to fill 1175 (highest was 108, lowest was 69).

Molybdenum Ore drops between 12 and 36 units every 8 asteroids on average. So 24 / 8 = 3 per rock on average. Times 3.0 for the GMS' mining bonus gives us 9 per rock. So 105 shots to fill 1175 sounds like an expected outcome.
