I agree with Ktayn, but I think there needs to be a better warning. A big text warning, similar to the 24/7 Discovory Freelancer announcement would be nice.

Like:

You will be auto-kicked in 3 Minutes unless you undock.

You will be auto-kicked in 1 Minute unless you undock. This is your final warning.

Yes please. Better warning. I see the message: YOU WILL BE KICKED! then I attempt to undock, then I get kicked anyway.

Once you see that message saying you will be kicked for base idling.
You cant do a thing. Timer's started and wont cut off if you undock.

Having notice messages occur before the actual kick takes place would be nice.

i vote yes, it appears like 1 seacond before kicking, not long enough to get out of the bar and undock

*bang* you called?

Issue noted. As hoodlum pointed out the behaviour is intentional. I'll see if I can change the software so that if you are actually doing things like chatting, the kick timer is disabled so you don't get kicked.

I've been thinking about this for a while, I'd rather like to have chat in the bar restricted to players in the bar. Maybe even have the server provide a list of people in the bar when you walk in. I can't actually put the graphics there - but could easily print a list of players in the bar. Anybody remember the old text based RPG games? Something a bit like that.

Could even add a /buydrink, /throwchair, /fight commands...just a thought.

Heh maybe you could make the people in the bar the people who are actually there hehe.

Hmm... Makes me wonder what effects these would have. I have a couple ideas, but a few of them probably can't be implemented.

/buydrink drinktype [playername]

buys a drink of specified type, optionally for another player.
Have a list of drinks, each with a different price. (1-10 credits each)
Also, although I doubt this part can be done, modify the ship's reaction time based on how many drinks have been purchased in a certain amount of time and the strength of the drink.

Also include an /acceptdrink and a /refusedrink command for the other player involved. /refusedrink would prevent any possible negative effects from being applied to either player. Both would also have whatever followed the command be sent as a message to the offering player.

/throwchair [player]
Throws a virtual chair, at the player specified if given. Includes a chance that the person gets kicked for fighting (1% maximum)

/fight player
Produces a random fight action from a pre-made list, directed at the specified player. Also has a chance to get kicked for fighting (2% max)

Yep, I put way too much thought into this. Also, it could lead to chat room syndrome if people don't use it for proper RP.

Wow... This would be funny. But I doubt it would be done for some reason. I do like the buydrink one though. I don't know about fighting...

Dont forget /buydonut for LPI

Yeah, that would be frakkin awsome if it can be done easily enuf.

hmm.... probably impossible but could you mirror server-chat to/from a (real) IRC channel for people that are having extended conversations ? That way a humungous amount of resources aren't being used up by people basically IM'ing each other.
