"Abandoned" Bases - Cellulanus - 05-08-2009 Why leave a robot behind, who knows? It did happen in SP so I'd assume they just forgot to pack him. And like I said in the first one, odds are these things are simply to hard to take apart to really be worth it, probably better off stealing the supples of of a transport convoy for pirate factions, and corporate factions would probably be better off buying new material. "Abandoned" Bases - farmerman - 05-08-2009 As I told you before, I really like this idea. Perhaps they would be run by a couple freelancers who've taken up residence? Not enough of any group for them to control it, but just enough to keep systems going. Only have batteries and nanobots for sale (they keep them by the crate everywhere perhaps?) and you can do the repairs yourself. Just some place to lie low when you need it. "Abandoned" Bases - lw'nafh - 05-08-2009 Not a bad idea actually... I like it. "Abandoned" Bases - NerdRage - 05-08-2009 i like this idea, factions can tempoarily claim the bases for operations and a possible fallback point. i'd like to see this happen: xeno: after we attack the convoy, we'll regroup at (insert baename here) ::after a fight with several fleeings xenos fall back to see the base already under contol by the LH, damaged xenos are destroyed, LH leave and the base is later used by junker smugglers as a toilet-stop:: "Abandoned" Bases - Ironwatsas - 05-08-2009 This is a good idea. Thing about maintnance is, assuming the station is in a stable location, and dosen't have perminant residence, it'd last pretty much forever (if there's nobody breathing the air, the Life support could just stop cycling and it could go into standby until someone shows up, then everything restarts). It would be a nice touch, and serve a number of purposes. Take for example small factions without an NPC affiliation or individuals could roleplay colonising said base, or it could temporarily become a haven for squatters or passers' by. The problem being they might be looted by passers by, but assuming the station is remote enough or hidden well, we could say nobody has found it yet. And who knows, people can RP said looters. I'd say go for it, it can't really hurt. "Abandoned" Bases - Jamez - 05-08-2009 As long as the idea is implemented sensibly (as in, refer to the local area's/base owner's RP to see wether area is worth keeping the station operational or not) the idea is a good one, and should it be implemented, would add a slightly more grim aspect to Discovery immersion. I don't think all abandoned stations should be Frelancer bases, although one or two would be good. "Abandoned" Bases - reavengitair - 05-08-2009 Hmm.... We do need more neutral bases... "Abandoned" Bases - NerdRage - 05-08-2009 i also agree they should be neutral, many people and pirates just shoot freelancers near their base and make them hostile. imagine if the keepers used a neutral base for hiding their jellybutt ships from patrols in order to make an attack, or mon'star taking over a base to use for his own' deviations, oh, and imagine the fights over the bases and territorial squabbles, i think it's a really awesome idea. plus they could be awesome for bank characters , for example a person had a xeno, a LH, a RFP and a gaian char, where would they put their banke where they can all access it? "Abandoned" Bases - Weedalot - 05-08-2009 i like it, could only add good things. "Abandoned" Bases - Encheta - 05-08-2009 I think this will help create a vigilante population too.. I mean, you can't really expect Zoners, and moreso the bounty hunters, to like vigilantes basing their operations from their bases, just as much as a group of pirates. I think the only reason vigilantes are allowed to dock on those factions bases is because otherwise there's no place for them to go. With abandoned bases, now there is. |
