DOS- denial of service attack... they just spam the server with info till it crashes basically.
I doubt anything is lost. The server was taken down to prevent any loss/damage till the police catch the person doing it =)

Wrote Rp's spent 12 hours in discussions with the Admin team. You lucky buggers get time off. For us it's an excuse to do some spring cleaning of our processes and take stock of where we and the community are.
