+1

Log in and play the game yourself, dont let bots do it for you.

If we are going as far as to remove Discord bots then Discovery should take the first step and remove the players online tab that shows who is playing where. if that is not going away then discord bots should stand.

I agree with this statement.

Its not a bot problem its a culture problem, fix the culture and people wont have issues.

Out of all the time this bot has existed, as well as existing in a server that I can see it in, I have used it exactly 0 times to find out what I can already do ingame. It is no less an inconvenience to me whether it exists or not, but I know that a few people have used this to grief others.

Take it down, or remove alerts. People shouldnt be pinged by a bot to log into the videogame, they should be doing it whenever they can or are able to if they wanna find people. I agree with nuking the online player count in the forums too, even though I know you probably dont have this ability. Make it simply a playercount, rather than a "heres everyone on the server right now and where."

I would enjoy it if the players online section said, say, how many players are in this system or that system. As unlikely as it may be, if that could be altered in game as well, that would be potentially useful.

The most harm with it is done to new players that join discovery and then join a faction. They look at the player list on the forum and everything is new for them. They don't know any of these tags. However, if they are on a discord with the bot, it will tell them who is hostile to their faction which makes them either log and try to engage them, or make them avoid them.

With the forum list and in game list you at least need to know the tags and names. The bot does all this thinking for you and honestly? It promotes logging just for the sake of pvp, not RP. In addition, to use the forum list you at least need to engage with disco. The bot completely disconnects you from it in a way. To use the list on the forum, you have to log in. You can check it but maybe you see something you might enjoy reading in the process which already made you more engaged with the game than the bot.

Remove it. And remove the "Players Online" API on the forums as well.

I'd go even a step further and say change the in-game player list to list the region a player is in rather than the specific system, but that subject has been beaten like a dead Horse and no one wants to do that for some reason so, I'll get off my soap box.

This is a tool that people are going to use to play the game how they wish.
Griefers will use it to find players to Grief, Rp'ers will use it to find people to RP with
and PvP'ers will use it to find PvP opportunities.
RP'ers and PvP'ers are fine with playing the game to find interactions.
Griefers love specific info.

IMO the downside of bad actors using specific location info outweighs any need for
the little use that most regular players make of it. Neither the discord tools nor forum
lists need to note the ooRP info of which system a player is in specifically.
