AI against VI - Eppy - 06-07-2009 I think Dusty summed it up pretty well. However, his example was faulty; the AI wouldn't make toast, it would opt to make a cake. And then kill you. AI against VI - Seth Karlo - 06-07-2009 'scuse me, my AIs are perfectly friendly towards humans, and don't kill them. *Glares* AI against VI - Primus Avatar - 06-07-2009 ' Wrote:well i dont know about that, that seems to farfetch for now.. so who ever is going to make those AI? Harvesters exist. read all about it AI against VI - Sarawr!? - 06-07-2009 Montezuma and Dusty were both pretty much right on the dot. but if you need another set of examples.. If you ever played Mass Effect, there were several instances where you would interact with a computer and a holographic interface would pop up and start talking to you, with limited options and knowledge, Those would be VI interfaces. (Nothing more than pretty user interface programs for computers). but in Halo...yes, Halo >.x Cortana is an AI, she had a sense of personality and could think and act on her own, outside of a predetermined program of actions and responses. AI against VI - Magoo! - 06-07-2009 *shrug* My opinion is that a virtual intelligence would seduce young nerds into loving games that diminished in quality by slowly becoming more defined and less modest whereas an artificial intelligence would simply be an omnipotent voice saying, "I can't let you do that, Dave". Virtual reality is a reality that isn't... Real? Thus, a virtual entity/intelligence would be a false personage. Artificial flavors exist in foods, but we don't see them. AI against VI - chovynz - 06-08-2009 Trying playing a VI with a limited set of parameters. It's quite interesting seeing if the responder can figure out the parameters you've set for your self to operate in. Artificial intelligence is slightly easier to work with as there are no limits in what an AI can learn, but the challenge is for the initiator to go on a learning curve, starting at a base of relative knowledge (instead of "OH! I know what this guy is like, I've played with him before on a different character! I already know I can trust/destroy/tease/annoy him or her or it.) |
