| Ship Fitting: Light Fighters - Hawkwings - 06-25-2009 I fight and win against lots of fighters and bombers in my LF, and I use missiles. I've never run out, except for once, and that was a running fight that lasted hours. Ship Fitting: Light Fighters - timmychen - 06-25-2009 ' Wrote:Two shield busters is an ideal set up for any light fighter. They lack the energy to keep up sustained fire to down an opponents' shield with only faction guns. Second, any missiles on a LF is useless. LFs are designed for long, drawn out battles and having missiles is more of a disadvantage - you will run out, and then you're screwed. Third, LFs can only mount CDs, not torpedoes. So it's pretty useless telling someone they need it. Fourth, everyone buys Nanobots. Seriously, you don't need to tell people to tell them that. It's like telling someone to shoot an enemy to kill them. On a typical four slot (2xlvl8, 2xlvl9), may I suggest instead using 2xlvl8 faction weapons, 1xlvl9 deb, 1xlvl9 faction weapon? I found out last night that using 2xlvl8 debs and 2xlvl9 faction weapons would strip the shields off of any bomber, but would barely scratch the hull (or maybe that's because I was using Vengeances. Ha.) A LF can't solely depend on mines to take down their target. @Hawkwings - the pilots you face probably don't know how to use their CDs.;)Missiles can backfire just as quickly with a well-placed TCD by your enemy. Graviton shields are still very common, after all. Swapping a shield buster onto my Scimitar does drop shields faster, but with Krakens, they're both effective choices. Of course, this is from experience as an Outcast. It may vary for the Xenos (more energy used) and BHG (less damage). Ship Fitting: Light Fighters - Varyag - 06-25-2009 scimmy has that great turret for a shield buster leaving you open for 4 krackens. Really fun for killing a trans with a lf. And there are 2 LF that can mount torps. Loki and the really crappy kush one that used to be sold in co, not sure if it still is. I do agree that a well placed mine is your best friend that will stab you in the back in a seconds notice. Dont forget the Nomad Morph (or LF), it has torp slot too Ship Fitting: Light Fighters - Hawkwings - 06-25-2009 ' Wrote:@Hawkwings - the pilots you face probably don't know how to use their CDs.;)Missiles can backfire just as quickly with a well-placed TCD by your enemy. Funnily enough, I've never fought someone in my LF who actually uses cruise disruptors, despite carrying 70 ammo onboard. And then I liberally use mine and suck up all their ammo when they die. And I'm well aware of missiles backfiring. Just yesterday I fought a missilespammer and kept exploding his missiles in his face until he ran out. |
