Too valuable to be sent into risky situations but too powerful for enemies to avoid.
Pirates can't really attack Manhattan for a few reasons, including the large capital ship patrol presence. They don't usually have the firepower to deal with such large ships.
Hence their usefulness in defence.
Anyway.
I would suggest using large freighters.
Clog up space, a lot of it.

Well, I suggest that we enlist commando units, ready to invade their capital ships if it is needed.
If we can't defeat them from outside, .we will do it from the inside where they are the weakest. We will take control of it from the inside and make the necessary decisions!
And even if they dare destroy us, it will show to the entire Sirius sector how of a threat they are to each of us! Our death will not be in vain.

Don't.. battleships usually have a battalion of armed troops stationed inside for invading/defending..
So, is the idea to actually clog up the trade lanes with transports? Or is it to fly in a straight line at a lolcap and see if it shoots?
