GRN Unofficial faction status. - Exile - 07-12-2009 we got plenty of folks. Good folks too. Most of them are working on other things at the moment. But we got about 12-15 on standby. Still, all unofficial. If we look at the 'Gallic Indies' we'd have around 30 or so. GRN Unofficial faction status. - kingvaillant - 07-13-2009 "Tous pour Roi et Gaule" <strike>Should</strike> must be "Tous pour le Roi et la Gaule" Otherwise it ends up saying "All for (see the word missing) King and Gallia" Shouldn't rank names be in french? IMO it would be more cool and ease the immersion of the players GRN Unofficial faction status. - Exile - 07-13-2009 I'd love to change it, but Ke Lin seems to have come down with the 'RL disease'. Can't do poo now. I'd have to remake the whole thing. I'll try to get the .psd for it, if not, remake. Will just take a while. Might be because "Roi" and "gaule" have no direct link between themselves when enumerated (Like saying "I hate Beef, pork, veal and chips") Maybe I could suggest: "Tous pour le Roi de Gaule" (all for the king of gallia) Or "Tous pour le royaume de Gaule" (All for the kingdom of Gallia) EDIT: Gaule take only one S my friend. IMO it would be more cool and ease the immersion of the players They're partially in French, kind of... I think... well, some of them are, at least the cognates like "Comte" (Count). Margrave is a French title (we'd have gone with Marquis or Marquess but they sound too much like Maquis...), and I suppose it wouldn't hurt to change "Duke" to "Duc", although it looks kinda funny... So long as we only do that for cognates, though, it's fine. If we do it for every rank... Rheinland Military. I can't count how many times we've tried to figure out who's in charge and gone "is your rank above mine or below it?" It's better at least with the prefixes, but sticking to cognates is good. For "easing immersion" to French players we could do whatever, but this being an English server and most of us not knowing French beyond "bonjour" "monsieur" and "madame", best to stick to cognates or to use English. Keep the comments coming, and/or join up with us. We have <strike>free candy</strike> bomber patrols, you really don't need to worry about ganking. Ever. -Duke Bruce Montague GRN Unofficial faction status. - Ogris - 07-14-2009 Unless you go anywhere near our bases, but then there will be about 5 NPC battleships doing the ganking:) GRN Unofficial faction status. - reavengitair - 07-14-2009 Sign me up. GRN Unofficial faction status. - Turkish - 07-14-2009 If someone else should choose to roleplay a Duke of the court will you take exception to this? I have to admit the title is appealing... GRN Unofficial faction status. - Jokoro - 07-14-2009 You can't just choose to become a Duke. It's a rank you earn through service and dedication to the faction. A person has to earn trust and respect before he can move up the ladder of the Royal aristocracy (and use bigger ships). GRN Unofficial faction status. - Exile - 07-14-2009 Right now the ranks for the current members are pretty much set. As Jokoro said, from now on it's working your way up by showing dedication to the faction. Naturaly, this can be done in alot of ways. |
