I would say yes to this idea but I get the feeling that giving these big ships the ability to make megabucks would lead to them being spammed.
You know how it goes, If somone can make money in a huge ship that looks cool and inflates thier Ego while they powertrade for its Dread escort then they will be everywhere.
Some sort of downside would possibly help balence it out. Prehaps these monted cargo items are succeptable to dammage? And spit out cargo like the Cargopods do.
They wouldent have a visual element like cargopods but they would have a hitbox in certain places on the hull and be targetable (as well as a cool explosion when they die) . Imagine fireing a missile into the hull of a Prison Liner only to have what looks like a hull breach with vented gas and flame followed by a handfull of Prisoners and hull pannels ejected into space. (ejected cargo would never cost more than the cargo-mod)
This way getting in a fight would be very dangerous for these transports, as it should be for a Liner. As there is a high chance that you could loose alot of money even if you manage to escape the fight.
It also means there are actual Human cargos that can be 'rescued' from battles.
P.S. If you like my idea why not add these explodo-pods to other caps for some cool visuals in battle.

This sounds like a good idea, my support is with this.
Liners are overpriced and rather useless...

I take pride in my ability to roleplay a Liner. Maybe the Lux Liner could be a special request ship, given by admin, that lets the hardcore, diehard Roleplayers get their ship, and still make decent cash doing it. I keep rolling my eyes at Lux Liners hauling Deuterium. Or worse, mining.
