You know something funny? I am disrupted by NPCs with train CDs at cruise speed when the CM launcher is on automatic nearly 100% of them time.

Against NPCs with wasps, doesn't matter what CM you have mounted, the auto deploy will keep dropping them until one works and you will have to be extremely unlucky to be dropped out of cruise.

From experience, TCDs do often miss. Also be aware that they don't always disrupt people...

You can let them hit but they don't actually disrupt you.

Ive avoided them many times with CD + flying directly at it.
You have to make it overload its turn rate, then it cannot hit you, so do a 180 degree turn and drop a cm or two and it can be avoided:)

Meh, it doesn't need any major changing in my opinion...

It's fine the way it is.

I have never heard or or seen a TCD miss any of my fighters, not even my old Starblazer.

TCDs actually fail more often than they used to. They're -too- fast for their own good, that often they'll miss their target, not being able to turn fast enough, then circle around their target until they explode.

Also, CDs are the reason Digital Anvil gave us Counter Measures.

Anyone trying to escape from CDs, thinking the auto-CM will save them needs to rethink their strategy. CMs make the CD explode on the CM munition... if that munition is directly behind your ship, the explosion radius is still going to hit you. If you fly head on into a CD, no amount of CMs are going to make it miss, because you are between the CD and the CM. The CD isn't going to fly around you to get to the CM. You have to make evasive manouvers to escape CDs, as well as launching CMs. Even 100% efficency CMs won't stop you from getting hit.

Also, TCDs aren't the be all end all CDs, Mosquitos serve a different purpose. They're designed to intercept ammunition and can blow up capship missiles and novas (I think).

' Wrote:Train CD misses quite often on some capital ships, namely the Outcast Battleship. I remember I was in my LSF fighter trying to disrupt a OC BS engines, but it didn't work even though I fired 10 in quick sucession. Afterwards, the pilot said Train CDs NEVER work from the back of an OC BS.

It cant distrupt most big battleships..the way to do it, fire from the flanks, or better even, its nose, that stops them, but the hard part is getting in front of it, which the only way, is to have a friend come in from the front, or for some reason the battleship starts turning, then you can use the CD from the front flank, it works..

lies, just like Nighthawk said, the CDs hit the CMs, but the TCD's radius is big enough to consume you, the way to do it, dodge left right, throw a CM every second or so, then when you're far enough from the first CM(to know the correct distance, ye need to experience it yourself), then do a CM spam, and you'll be out of the range anyway, because of the firsts, or if your angle is enough the CD wont hit ya, once in cruise, dont CM spam, throw 2 of them every time you get missle alert, once you have 2-3k range, youre safe.

Another way to get use cruise when they use CDs, and this will work if you are a fighter, go towards the enemy, stick to him and use cruise, if youre close enough, the CD will just spin around you, once in cruise, do the same as above...and thats how you get away from CDs...unless..the enemy is experienced with CDs, and knows what hes doing, like me...hehe, anyway, CDs should stay as they are. kthxbai

I personally like the way Train CD's are since they serve multiple purposes, such as intercepting targets of all types of vessel-classes and can be used as a defense mechanism against missile-spam.

I have managed to dodge alot of Train CD's heading my way when I try to escape, so I don't really understand when you write this on the poll:

"Train Cruise Disruptors should continue to be flawlessly effective against EVERYTHING."

They do have some flaws, Nighthawk pointed them out rather well and you can dodge em' if you are in a Fighter or a Bomber. Gunboats up to Cruisers/Destroyers have it hard tho', that I agree with. However, I have had a very hard time stopping a Battleship. I don't know why but it is really hard...

As suggested above. What requires is a good combination of dodging and place the CM's at the right positions. I usually move far to the left and far too the right dropping one or two CM's on both sides, this way you can avoid the Train CD's huge splash radius.
