I want more specific commods.

If it doesn't, I think it never hurts to add a new commodity.. but I'm not sure about this particular one (may need some work on the info and pricing) . .?

Well before all you folks dismiss it out of hand, I would like to see a certain amount of diversification in the consumer goods. At the moment we basically have holo-tainment bands, wine, tobacco, arguably the various drugs and finally the 'consumer goods' and 'luxury consumer goods' commodities.

The 'consumer goods' commodity is rather a blanket idea, and lacks a little in detail. I think The mod would gain greater depth by removing the blanket 'comsumer goods' commodity, and replacing it with a series of specific goods such as this. I know the devs and various people balencing the economy would probably shoot me for it. But hey.

In all honesty, I think the addition of holo-tainment bands, wine, and tobacco was a step in the wrong direction. There are already too many types of consumer goods in the game.

While I am not in support of this particular commodity.. the additions to the consumer goods would nice for diversity.

Well, I kind of disagree on that... True it adds complexity to the game, but it opens up more avenues to role play . . . Introducing new commodities envelops more stories, more opportunities for trading as well.
I'm sure it requires more work for the developers, but there can be great rewards . .

This is both a great and an awful idea, I think.

On one hand, it could create a very diverse and interesting economy. I mean, every House has to produce some kind of unique consumer goods, some kind of unique food ration, some kind of unique luxury food. Every other house would have that commodity in demand, some Houses more than others. It would really be interesting.

However, it would be very hard to code, and, in my opinion, not really worth it. Easier to just keep it simple.
