Uh... take slightly less profit and go to Rochester.

Or are you one of those people who thinks trading only has a point when you're getting the most credits possible every second?

I've always held the image of smuggling to be rather small time operation. As it is now people will fly around hold full of cardi/slaves/counterfeit sw/organs with those 5k ships.

So I think limiting the smuggling to freighters would be good. And maybe even make some good only to be carried by smuggler ID.
And now the whole what is legal and what is not is far from clear. Sure the different houses have different laws, but to me it's just a mess since I can't intuitively say is the person I have 2 seconds to scan is doing something illegal. To me Sirius should have common contraband items. Maybe even put the word Contraband there in the commodity info card where it says 'perishable' now.
Your thoughts?

Another case of <strike>powergamers</strike> well-intentioned players telling us what our RP should look like.

Hell yeah, I smuggle in a 5k Advanced Train using an ID that allows it. That's my character, that's his story. Live with it or hunt him down.

And no, I don't dock at any bases disallowed by the ID or by the character's background story.

Rochester?? again, where ist the point in the smuggler ID? Its a Junker base, Libertyrogues can dock there, hell anyone xept for Xenos and Hogosha can dock there.
AND you dont get half the heart beat docking at a save and secure (for you the smuggler) base.
Takeing the last Tradelane and Praying there wont be any police it better.

And to the second part, why dont you trade in a starflyer? its the same mechanics, its just no fun when you dont get payed for it.
Most credits per second, yes nice that is the point of tradeing, i actually keep flightlogs for both my Traders, and have the dockument calculate the time and profits, takeing different roads, change bases, optimise, try and error, that IS the fun about it.
Tradeing isent just flying around a Train, its makeing money, and not just by grinding the slaves'n'cardi run.

And, "oh i delivered 3000 Cardemine to Rochester...again..." is not fun, trying 3 or 4 different ways to bring your ATrain onto Manhatten is.

And basicly you only got the Smuggler ID and the Junker ID for that.

Ah, but can Rogues or other pirate factions fly there without getting harassed by Bounty Hunters on the entire trip, whether carrying contraband or not?

Smugglers can. If they haven't been caught, they aren't criminals and they don't have bounties - unlike the Rogues, the Hackers, the Outcasts, or any other faction. You carry a Rogue ID, you are a criminal. You carry a smuggler ID, you could be a criminal (but you have no bounty if you haven't been caught.) Carrying a Smuggler ID means you're not restricted by the diplomacy of other factions, and you aren't necessarily going to have all their enemies after your defenseless Advanced Train. As a sacrifice, you have less cargo.

Less potential profit, but less risk.
