What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Exsiled_one - 09-25-2009 Convoys = Win Ar Pee = Win Forum Life = Win Pooled Resource = Win Player Interaction = Win Skype Chats = Win Shared Routes = Win Corporate Trading = Epic Win. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - atlantis2112 - 09-26-2009 Convoys and the prospect of good, insightful RP whilest powertrading and making craploads of cash. I'm an idiot. But I'm an efficient one.:) What would attract you to a corporate faction? - ProwlerPC - 09-26-2009 ' Wrote:Convoys = Win /signed I've been an RP trader right from the beginning when Athenian lectured me on the benefits of a trade ship (I reached PvP level on my first char by missions). Since than I've had two tradeships APM-Aries of the APM faction and of course GMG|GTS-Raikoke-Maru of GMG|. Trading is so much funner with others and while RPing with those around. Time goes by faster and you find yourself wanting to continue to doing runs. This also ties in with player interaction on the forums as well as in Skype, a real blast compared to being an indie. For pooled resources, GMG| never requires any contributions from it's members and many have contributed anyways. Never had any difficulty with gaining cash for the faction. I've said many times that getting the 500mil for a faction request is the easiest part. Each time GMG| needed to build money (Official, Guard System, RM BS) it only took us an afternoon or an evening for a handful of us to bring together the funds so I never felt the need to make a requirement of contributions. In my mind as long as the members are making money it equals the GMG making money, in RP of course. Convoys are easier to have moving together than having one tradeship with a couple escorts. 3 tradeships moving together can have just as daunting of an effect and more importantly from the player's perspective everyone (theoretically) is going home with money and thus it's more appealing. A Ryuujin and 2 Kamomes can make a pretty strong stance in my experience, used to even have the Akegata ouch.. On that note Planetform and BMM convoys are a threat to all pirates in GB or less and may even be a threat to a lone Terrorist/Wilde/Nomad/Phantom in a capital ship. I dared to attack Planetform near Perth with my [NLH]-Lurue and boy did I regret that when Shires and Percherons poured out. Transport turrets in numbers are deadly. Shared routes, now here is a plus to trading with a faction. Several players submitting RP based routes leads to a nice repertoire of routes available to all members which allows for "switching it up" to either stave of boredom or pirates. Really it's win-win by signing up with Trade Factions. Join GMG! :P What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Elsdragon - 09-26-2009 Yeah. SHameless plug for synth foods here, But the SHared resorces is the best one. Shire's are easy to solo, honestly, but mroe than one, and you are dead. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Sprolf - 09-26-2009 An idea that was bounced around in DSE chat today: Capital Transports. Only corporation shippers would have specific access to them. No one else could get them besides lawful corporations with the explicit permission stated in their ID. They'd be like the equivalent of an economic battleship. And, of course, they'd have more than 5000 cargo. Money is rather hard to get nowadays, and it's not stopping people from buying battleships. The people who would abuse battleships are the ones who would powertrade for hours anyway. It just affects those with limited amounts of time on their hands, not the abusers. On that note, I should think that these Capital Transports should have at least a six thousand cargo, probably even more. Smuggling shouldn't be the most profitable routes. Corporate traders have tradelanes and jumpgates and support facilites for massive ships. Smugglers don't, yet the latter make more money. That should be the strength of Corporations. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Corsair - 09-26-2009 I am woefully alone on my OSC. Pan Gal doesn't seem to be on enough/share my routes, and I don't see [strike]m[/strike]any indie OSC. I would like to see something like, send in 1m / week and receive benefits, i.e, monthly bonuses. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - looqas - 09-29-2009 A clear and meaningful goal(s). But that's the Holy Grail of trading factions and I think nobody really has found it yet. And by goal I mean more than grinding money for your other chars. I think trader factions should have a sense of going forward towards that goal, a sense of purpose. A story arc of some kind. A pity factions can not change in Disco that easily. I believe it's doable but you really have to butt some heads to have it done. A market domination would be one good goal or expanding your business to other trading factions territory. Currently we have no business wars of any kind. Everybody has it's specific market and commodity corner and that's unchangeable. Imagine if there would be a slugging fest between transports of competing trading factions when they meet. THAT would be awesome. Trader factions have an obscene amount of money to throw to mercenaries/opportunists to jar the operations of the competing faction. Meanwhile your list of things can take you pretty far. Especially events. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - eyvind - 09-29-2009 Open hostility and wars between corporations is a great idea, in my opinion. Perhaps we should break the bonds we've worked on and start developing our own strong and stubborn opinions? The problem is that as it stands, it feels like corporations need a lot of cooperation in order to develop the concept of corporations. Perhaps both can happen at the same time? DSE is working toward something that's reminiscent of this, which is a transition from underhanded hostility to open hostility with the IMG. As soon as 2018 comes around and the mining update is released, Coronado will finally become what it was meant to be. However, even today, DSE and IMG convoys meet quite often. I think it would make things a little more fun if we didn't great each other as much as we try to hinder each others economic success. Ageira and Kishiro could have similar hostilities. Dauman and Samura, maybe. And maybe we need people to take some entrepreneurial initiative and try to infringe on markets and monopolies? They might not survive long, but it would give some foundation to the status quo! More back to the original topic. I have been paying attention to this thread for a while and have been working to increase DSE's focus on some of the topics brought up. We have bolstered and diversified our shared fleet. I don't think having an obscene number of ships will help much, but currently we have 4 shared Lifters, 3 shared Mammoths, 1 shared Mastodon, and 1 shared Mining Ship. More is on the way. I have also worked to increase the focus of in-game events, planned and impromptu ones. We have often had trading convoys in the past, as well as a few mining operations, but I hope to increase the frequency of these as well as introduce some fun variation. The other big corporate perk is general support. One for all and all for one. People seem a bit unwilling to accept credits too often. Perhaps they feel it might hurt the corporation too much, especially for the larger sums. In some cases this might be valid, and it's of course the member's choice if they want help or not, but if they want help they need to be willing to accept the help and let the faction leaders worry about the math and logistics. Threads like this are much appreciated by the corporate factions. We try to catch what people say on the forums, share ideas, discus and develop concepts. If you would like to guarantee that corporations get wind of your ideas and feedback, consider posting in faction feedback threads. I, at least, cling to every word people say in my faction's feedback thread.
