Engagement Notices. - ProwlerPC - 09-26-2009 I voted "no" but this isn't a reflection on how I feel the server rules outghta be or clarified as, it's just a matter of opinion. You see I go for what I call my RP "fix". If they say engaging and hasn't fired yet than I'm gonna continue the dialogue and keep getting my RP "fix". More than once I've had an engagement notice directed at me and was still able to RP out of it. Actually I've still been able to RP out of it part way into the engagement when I'm sure I've lost. Of course the more intrcate and RP fullfilling the engagement notice the more likely I'll have a chance at RPing out of the conflict. (Also, please vote.) Engagement Notices. - Sprolf - 09-26-2009 I usually keep roleplaying until I start taking hull damage. (Unless I'm in a capital ship.) Call me Roleplayer. Or call me coward. But I never start shooting until they are shooting and obviously mean business - but that might just be because I don't like PvP. Engagement Notices. - Bear - 09-26-2009 I voted yes, they've said they are going to engage I don't see why you can't shoot them straight after they have said this. Engagement Notices. - chovynz - 09-26-2009 Tricky. On one hand he stated his intention to kill you. On the other hand he had not actually attacked you. From the information that you have posted Do I understand that you didn't say anything? Or did you reply to his banter? Do I also understand that he pretty much rule lawyered you after losing? Engagement Notices. - Elsdragon - 09-26-2009 Bagh.....ugh............I really vant decide.......... erm, you MIGHT be in the wrong Engagement Notices. - Drake - 09-26-2009 If someone makes their intention to kill you clear, and you've been RPing, then they should not be surprised if you shoot them. Engagement notices aren't necessary, RP is. Engagement Notices. - n00bl3t - 09-26-2009 ' Wrote:Tricky. Assume I was shooting the other players that were already attacking me. (So, I was too pre-occupied to respond, however, with the RP that went down, it could be assumed that the forces that were already attacking me were allied with the "Starflea".) Avoid the rule-lawyering for now. (Not too important.) Engagement Notices. - ProwlerPC - 09-26-2009 That's a pretty good point. As long as the intent to kill is clearly RP'd. I like that line because a good RP session that goes for say about 15 mins can lead to a conflict without actually saying "engaging". Indeed it oughta take several lines at least of RP to make the intent clear without actually saying "engaging" directly and is always exciting when you meet a player who RP his way into conflicts like this. The PvP, itself, that comes after a session of RP with an enemy is more thrilling then a happenstance meeting where one suddenly bursts forward with "You will die!" and doesn't at least wait for the retort. We can only hope that those piloting the other ship is willing to RP. Engagement Notices. - chovynz - 09-26-2009 If you were already in combat, and he said he was going to kill you and was nearby I would call that provocation. In a way he was a bystander then became a combatant. He's level 41. Open for PVP. It really is starting to sound like a sore loser situation, where things didn't go his way. On that alone, I would call it "you're safe". Of course that presumption is based on what you've posted. There's always two sides. |
