There aren't many sirius-wide IDs you can have. Apart from civ, merc and freelancer, I can only think of Zoner, Junker and Vigilante. (and the trade, pirate, smuggler, all generic IDs)

Alot of factions are recruiting. You can make few players, and join one pirate faction, one trading, one merc.
From pirates I'ld recommend either LR (liberty rogues) or Bucaneers, since they could use some members that are ready to be guided.
For trading I'ld reccomend bowex since their routes can be full of good skilled pirates.
For mercenaries, i think MM (mandalorians) are recruiting. Try and see how's that part of freelancer universe.

more chars is a no no for me since i don't want to spend that much time on the game. Also i am wondering which parts of sirus see the most action.

You want action? Take a bounty hunter to Alpha or Gamma.

Liberty, Omicrons and well.. Brettonia?
Basically Liberty is the hotspot of all actions. You'll need at least two different players, a trader and your combat ship, that is, if you want to do combat.
You can make just one pirate, but for start I suggest a trader. Trading trough the space will surely make you realize where the most traffic is.

for those that didn't rad my welcome post in which i explained my situation i have a trader and 100m on it, but that char i didn't count coz i wont play much on it (only when i run out of money)
So liberty rouges should be a good start...
Oh i almost forgot which fractions are not pirates but are unlawful, Terrorist, Nomad, Wild and Phantom?
