Faction jurisdiction - DBoy1612 - 06-02-2007 ' Wrote:Something i forgot to add. The factions whose space overlaps could go to talks about who controls what... I would say only the base and space at 10k range from it. Faction jurisdiction - McNeo - 06-02-2007 Indeed. I would like to know if the Corsairs could control the southern part of Omega 5 while the Hessians control the north. Seeing as there is a turf war there, it makes sense...to me anyway. Tau 23 is more complicated. The IMG control the North, the Outcasts control the south east and the BMM control the south west. Tau 37 is like Omega 5, in that the IMG control the south, the Outcasts control the North and the Zoners have a little pocket in the middle (like the Zoners do in just about every system with a freeport in it). On the whole though, i agree with the change. I vote yes! Faction jurisdiction - Korrd - 06-02-2007 ' Wrote:I would say only the base and space at 10k range from it.No. Lets make it as whole systems. If now, we will get a lot of complaints about attacks being outside of jurisdiction, and all that... The way i propose, you are in system or you are not. That solves most of the jurisdiction problems, and people entering it without noticing it.. Faction jurisdiction - Raven_ipb2_import227 - 06-02-2007 Damn what a interesting topic. To be honest, my question on the "what is this" thread came more as a call for confirmation, in my mind it makes sense to be able to "police" your ZOI after all, if you faction is closely acting like the NPC house faction, it's part of your RP anyway. But asking someone to leave a system is more complicated. OK so asking pirates to leave your house space (ZOI) seems normal, they are a "pest" to most:), but making say a none pirate/terrorist leave your space might be too much... even if they are hostile to you.. making them leave you "home" system makes sense. Now in place of making them leave, they could be escorted everywhere they go within your ZOI, and if they do anything unlawful or "damaging to the house faction and it's allies in anyway" they could be dealt with in the right RP manor. Anyway, I think this thing needs to be sorted out first, if it is, I say yes let the faction police the whole ZOI. (voting yes for now, but with above issues) Faction jurisdiction - Korrd - 06-02-2007 Let's change ZoI (Zone of Influence) for SoI (System of Influence). That way we do not confuse both concepts, as its systems we are talking about, not areas inside a system. Faction jurisdiction - Craines - 06-02-2007 Well, I've imposed a no-capital-ship (mainly no battleship, but any capital ship is frowned upon) rule in Honshu that the KNF have been good about enforcing. I've asked people to leave the area if they are indeed in a battleship or capital ship. This is really just a tangent that is only related because of the idea of SoI. Anywho, I think that, as a House Faction, I would have the ability to do just about anything in a corresponding House System. I voted yes. If I want to impose a ridiculous tax on VIPs in Honshu, I should be allowed to! Teehee. Am I kidding? Who can tell! Harley Faction jurisdiction - Eppy - 06-02-2007 Somebody turn her off:dry:. If I want to fly Fantasia into Honshu, I will. Actually, I'd get shot at either way, but I'm an arrogant snot, so... I think major house factions and such should be able to police ZOI, but only those, unless a serious RP reason can be found. However, there need to be negotiations and such over this, because of RP and other things we can't do it strictly by the book. A server rule would cause too many problems. Faction jurisdiction - Hyperwave22 - 06-02-2007 Okay, I think that factions should have complete jurisdiction over where their NPC's lie. Also, I believe that if there are two factions with the same allignment in that jurisdiction, then they should both have equal rights. Now, there may be some factions that would have a hard time dealing with the SoI/ZoI. For example, most Zoner aligned factions have bases in a lot of systems, which would make it quite hard to determine the actual SoI/ZoI. For houses it's straightforward, but for others we may have to use the ZoI, but I'm not sure exactly, so I'll put some more thought into it. Yes, that ended suddenly, but I'm really not sure... Yes, a waste of the limited words that we have on this world:P Hype Faction jurisdiction - bluntpencil2001 - 06-02-2007 Yeah, factions should be allowed to police their NPC territory. However, that shouldn't discourage pirates from breaking those pigs' rules! Faction jurisdiction - Dab - 06-02-2007 I agree with Caylith, DBoy, and McNeo. They said basically msot of what I want to say. In the terms of governing certain parts of systems, I'd say that kind of sounds like a good idea. For example; Freeport 4, the IMG Freeport, would be BSG-owned. The area around it would be there area. However, Mactan, being a LH base, would be controlled by the HF. This would include the base, and probably a good 20km around it, including the jump holes to Leeds, New London, and Vespucci. All three of these JHs have a rather large patrol of LH guarding them, and no lawfuls stopping them. Another example is Tau-31. Holman and the planet are both IMG-controlled I think, so BSG would control a bit of the area around them. While KNF would have rights to the northern section of the system. SF wouldn't really have any rights except the Newcastle JH and the Dundee JH. The Leeds JG is constantly being fought over by the KNF/BAF NPCs and has no definite owner. Of course, these specifics would really be discussed by the factions that have a stake in the area (KNF, SF, and BSG), these two paragraphs are just examples of how it could be zoned. I think this could give us a whole new division of faction diplomacy and leadership, and could possibly even result in factions fighting for zones of a system, rather than whole systems together. (Hessiens going for control over southern Omega-5 would be wonderful to watch:P) |
