Machines and Monkeys question - Panzer - 06-08-2007

Well, imo, the robots and monkeys deserve much more attention. Actually, I'd make them separate NPC factions. heh, there is even a shp originally used by a race of robots already in the mod

The cylon raider

Well, the robot planet might not be a planet at all, I'd love to fly INSIDE it. Hollowed with canals criss-crossing it. That would be really robotish. Matter of limiting the atmosphere radius and creating a new planet model. Dockring? in the very core of the planet.

SEE!!!

now we're talking, that would be AWESOME!

Now to bring out the buts.

1st off, these canals will require a whole lot of hitbox defining. The more complicated system, the more work for the modder and I know making hitboxes is most difficult.

Anyway, imo there are way too few places in disco, where only a fighter can get. Only ones I know is that nomad lair (whatever happend to it) and inside the Hispania.

Now for the mokeys. Imo, monkeys should live on a jungle-like world. Kinda natural for them despite them all wearing monkey suits (I bet this alusion was made on purpose ingame). Planet of the apes...

Honestly, with one or two nomad fleets flying around these planets I can hardly belive that the entities living on Gammu and Primus joined the nomads to survive.

And if you can't join them beat them.

you could have large symetrical object orbiting the inner sphere which would keep large ships from getting to the core.

maybe it'd be like a defense perimeter, like large shields

now that would be easier

i found this....

http://www.lancersreactor.com/t/Download/D...oad.asp?ID=1209

not sure what it is as i don't have anything to open it with to view it.

but if it's what i think it is it might make for a good model for the robot planet.

i saw some mods that have a dyson arena, so i'm thinking there is a texture or whatever out there that would work.

here's another pic for looksie's

wow this is gotta be the best one i've seen so far

it's kinda dark but you can see the detail of it.

Oh, Better indeed.

If you could find planet Core prime from Total annihilation, that place would be excellent.

Guys, this all looks good n stuff but.

whos gonna mod it? and will the FL engine allow it AT all?

Machines and Monkeys question - me_b_kevin - 06-12-2007

just tossing around ideas is all.

at the very least just having the robot planet look like this would be supah sah-weeeet

i'm not a modder at all....

what makes up the planets....a wireframe and a skin? maybe a glow effect?

compared to making a ship, i would think a planet would be fairly easy right?
