Bounty hunters are far from lawful group.

Even if they are based agiasnt unlawfuls it doesn't make them be lawfuls.

So those arrests doesn't sounds for me good. Capturing perhpas. But not arrest.

The BHG are a lawful faction.
They are listed as allies to the police.
They have bases in the Houses.
They can't do unlawful acts.

They may not shower frequently, but they are to be considered lawful.

In game rumours support the idea of them as being paid to capture (but mostly kill) criminals.

besides, dont they eject from the ship prior to dying and thats when bhg loots them?

Bounty Hunting - Dashiell - 01-05-2010

When I suggested this, I was aiming to enhance and improve ingame experiences regarding the collection of bounties. for both parties involved.

of course, we can kill off any idea by throwing tons of logic and 'reasism' at it. but we have to work with the game mechanics we have.

You know what could be interesting along these lines? If next to all the prisons (and possibly BHG stations), there was a neutral-tagged base called something like "Prison Holding Cell". It wouldn't sell anything and if one landed on it, it would prevent them from launching for X hours. This would be to simulate being detained, and could work with such surrendering, especially if when docking there was a local message like "Player X has been detained".

Possibly an idea that has kinks to work out. In my experience, morons will try to land -anywhere- they can, or haven't yet before.

You bring up a point. If it could be made idiot-proof, it seems it could work anyway.

Bounty Hunting - Tenacity - 01-05-2010

Or you could just take bribes from your targets to avoid having to kill them =P

Ever notice how Bounty Hunters in Freelancer are nothing like that in any other media?

Assassins more like.

You have opened my eyes.

I blame it on game mechanics, look at the missions, "go here, kill that", "go here, kill that and its friends", "go here kill that and blow that up".

Freelancer was never designed to be a roleplaying platform that Disco turned it into.
