Actually if we revert back to doing this it'd open up a whole new window of opportunities for merc factions and such..

Only problem is, THERE IS NO WAR. (Mostly because the RM were tired of losing against the omgwtfsuperlolroflpwnsquad that is the LN, and the KNF never even bother to attack the BAF because they're inactive).

We need things to make the wars interesting, and we need to grow a pair and stop whining about losing. When we do that, the militaries can be militaries and the police can be police.

The navy are acting like the police because the criminals have the equivalent of armored cars and light tanks. Look at the police in places where there's a lot of organized crime: they look almost like a military.

Unless the criminals stop using heavier ships (haha, like that's ever going to happen) then the navy will always be needed to help the police out.

In times of war Military were patrolling the streets and needed people to show their ID before passing. And if they 'scanned' you and you got any stuff with you that wasn't correct you got arrested or shot in the head.

Let the house military's have more checkpoints. and the the police handle all inner systems. (I feel the smuggling world should be downscaled and the profit a pice moved up but thats off topic)

The SHF idea. I approve this idea.

(We need to find a way to have less pirates and more lawful's, I still vote for a max taxing rule which will keep people from becoming a pirate I think)

Your point suggests that I should drop the ship restrictions from 'step 1'.

I'd like to hear more opinions on that as it, unfortunately, seems to make sense.

I think it's the military's job to fight piracy. Until we stop calling them pirates and just criminals the Navy has every right to hunt down and kill pirates. I mean all throughout history, police never stopped pirates, and the Navy and the Marines have.

Are the police currently fighting the Pirates near somalian waters?

no its a combined force of Navy Ships, leaded by the dutch.

so, the way it is now its fine, the Police group I'm in ( GRP] ) are using HF's and LF's, and call the navy for bigger targets.

The same thing just popped up in my mind.

And it's not just the dutch.

SHF are slow, big, bulky and sucks (except Mjolnir). My suggestion is a fighter with agility like sloooow HF or Fast VHF (im thinking eagle/Virage speeds). Yet, the firepower of a bomber, the voulnerability of a heavy fighter (yes, i want low hull around 9k or so, at MOST)....

Such a ship could:
- fight with a gunboat on 50/50 terms, (50% chance gunboat wins, 50% chance that police wins) due to the low health, but high firepower.

- can deal with fighters, but wont be that effective against them, and is voulnerable thanks to its low healt and lack of guns. (so, unless your godlike with snac, you wont have the edge)

- can EASYLI deal with any smuggler or embargo breaker

- can assist against enemy warships (what logic is there, that the donut eater will whatch a RM battleship crawl into its backyard?)

- Will make policing easier, yet, not that easy

- the ship will cost alot (8m), thus preventing spammage of it 1m for guard ID, 8m for ship, and a helluva lot of time to get the rep, the skills and the money for it.... total cost of that ship is:
1m (ID)
8m (ship)
15m (armour)
7m (snac)
0.3m (tcd)
0.8m (enhanced thruster)
0.3m (guns)
-----------------------------
total: 34.4m (just to set it up)

EDIT:
Add 5 hours of repping to that cost.... not to mention the 2 hours of trading needed.... thats 7 hours and 35m jsut for a fighter.

Task Force 150 is comprised of many Nations, that share joint command. The Dutch do not have any outstanding stake in it above the rest.

Except the pirates in Freelancer are more like a local street gang.

You have streets (TLs).. you have thugs waiting for you on the street... you have police, trying to stop them..

However, LPI Guard ID allows gunboats... what about that?
