I'm also a child of the 90's and I still play games from that time!
I learned one of the most important thing in my life: Gameplay is the key of the good games! Graphics can be good or bad, 3D or 2D, 8-bit or 32-bit, I'd play them as long as the Gameplay is attractive.
Back to topic now: A top-down space game, ah, a classic genre...
