Even though there is the same party in power, the internet filter actually played a small role in his stand-down. Time will tell. On the other hand and on a more serious note, she may most likely lower the original taxes set up by Rudd against the mining companies, which should be good because then the mining companies will most likely not have to lower their workers wages. Got this off CNBC (except for the worker wages part, but I'm assuming thats what would happen by logic, some please correct me if I'm wrong). Rudd should probably be appreciated for getting Aus troops outta foreign lands and successfully staving off the global recession in Australia. What he shouldn't be appreciated for is not being able to secure any of the global warming crap he promised, until 2013. Also, it seems Gillard was forced into the job by other party members. Anyways, thats what I understand of Aus politics. Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere. (I wouldn't have written a wall of text if this was posted in Flood you know..where it probably deserves to be anyway). Australia has a new Prime Minister - Laowai - 06-24-2010 ' Wrote:She's 48. The mining tax - in my opinion is a good thing, and i honestly don't think they should be backing down on that. You are right about the wage scare thing - however there is no reason at all for mining companies to do that, the profits they have been making in the last decade are beyond absurd - it could be easily monitored to ensure that they dont start punishing their workers. Rudd didnt get us out of foriegn lands though, he reduced our commitment to Iraq, while increasing the commitment to Afghanistan. His backdown on the emissions trading scheme though, has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I get the impression - and this is just my own view - that Rudd has sat too much to the right of center for a lot of the people that voted him in - I dont know enough of what Gillard will do yet although i fear she might do an Obama and panic and move further to the right - something i personally do not wish to see. |
