I think it is actually a ship from Homeworld 2, but I don't know the name (never played the game). But I don't think it's particularly un-Freelancerish. A lot of the Homeworld ships definitely don't fit.

Turret mounts would be an issue, but I don't think it would really be a problem to find 7 or so spots on the ship to stick a turret. Maybe 4 on the top, 3 on the bottom.

Dude 42 used that ship as the basis for a model he sent me....it might still be in his model maker thread. Mind you he sized his more as GB then a Liner.

Hmm, was it the same ship? I thought it looked familiar.

Trying to find unique, fitting ship concepts is... Difficult.

While this ship would ideally be more the size of a medium-to-small cruiser, I wouldn't want to use the same model for two entirely unrelated ships. So my search continues.

Well drake, you are fairly decent with words try to describe the vessel appearance in your minds eye, make it detailed. It may give some one the vision of what you are conceiving.

That ship looks like it was made in MS Paint.......

Whoever made it can have like 5000 cookies from me. Cause it looks fantastic.

Well, I was scouring Deviant Art for ideas, and I found a ship I really like. Built cruiser-sized (maybe on par with the Outcast Destroyer? Slightly smaller?) and I think it would be pretty much perfect:

The actual page (where you can see a much enlarged version of the picture) is here: http://mallacore.deviantart.com/art/WIP-Cr...he-ROG-28337509

This guy is really good, and I don't suggest ripping off his ship, but it's a good example of a general shape and design. Some more sensory instruments on it (like some satellite dishes or something) would be good, since it's supposed to be a deep-space research vessel.

I would love to make a research liner for you but that ship looks
quite plane actually.

I would try a different shape. Maybe somthing like this.

And a texture like this says research all over it

I must say, that second one looks pretty good.

Hmm, that second ship doesn't look particularly Freelancerish, IMHO. Looks more like some fancy alien design... Maybe if the front was rounded a bit more and maybe elongated some (it is supposed to be a reasonable large ship), and if the wings didn't flare out so much at the sides. It's texture is good though.

The first ship, even though it's just a sketch, has a lot of potential. It's got a utilitarian shape but is still interesting... It's easy to imagine it textured and flying around. I like it.

Dude, I know the second has a bad shape.

It says right in my posts that I planed on using the shape
from the first pic and only the texture from the second.
