I think that we shoud have a rule that says - Korrd - 12-22-2005

Having people pirating in the server is good. Improves the role play and makes the server less boring.
Sometimes i want to do a little PvP so i log in and find that nobody wants to fight.
I will be on my ship today... doing some raids with my pirate char.. or maybe hunting pirates... (Well, i need to get used to my old mouse first (the new one burnt). Its a 15 years old one. 2 keys, and arround 300Gr in weight :crazy: it feels like using a brick )

Hey.. don't get me wrong. I think the fact we HAVE pirates on Discovery is awesome.. makes for some fun skirmishes, don't it?

But lets not go bersek on the server and attack people at random without even acknowledging any hails they may make. make your intentions clear FIRST before opening fire eh? :)

And Korrd.. your mouse? Get a new one ya crybaby.. :P

but he did F1 out of the fight to get his Fighter thats the whole point of the discussion

if u guys are pissed bout me Raiding u in ur own system tell and ill look into not doing it

He is a pirate, so he MUST hail the victim before firing on him. Or make a warning shot and then hail the victim.

I feel the need to mention this even though I wasn't because rules were violated on both sides. BUT I was trading with my tagged IG trader last night and was attacked by RM Baltic which I laughed and tried to run no biggie I was transporting artifacts which apperently are illegal or something :rtfm: . Well a player started attacking baltic at the SIG-13 jumphole when he saw him attack me and I guess a fight ensued.( I kept trading) well the guy Cardamine didn't issue a warning (1st violation) and I told him about it after this whole incident subsided. He is kind of new to this server and didn't know, but now he does I made sure. The thing that got me was Baltic kept F1-ing out of the fight and rejoining. Maybe I'm wrong but I see that as cheating. Eventually Cardamine got tired of it and left but not before a hot argument ensued and I had to take Cardamines side, yes he was at fault for not identifing his actions (which I found out at the end of the argument) but he saw a transport getting attacked I guess he was being nice. Anyway I see F1-ing out of a fight and coming back in as a much worse violation. If your in a fight either take it or fight back. Now a transport to cruiser I see as unfair and I would run and depending on carge F-1 to save it, but I wouldn't F-1 in a cruiser on cruiser battle or fighter on fighter or whatever. Trading is one thing and in the circumstances if I had got blown up with cargo it would have been no big deal for me i got enough money to cover it. well now that ends my long winded run-on of a speech.

My opinion is if people F1 we should make a list of F1ers and have it rutinely announced on the server. Maybe the embaressment will knock some honor into them. Personally I wouldn't F1 unless I was in a train with no money and only cargo (in which case if I got killed I'd be broke), but fighter vs. GunBoat/Cruiser/Battleship or anything else is cowardly.

When im trading, if im attacked (and cant fight back) i run to the nearest base before F1 'ing. Then i go hunt the attacker with one of my chars (the nearest one to the site where the attacker is)...
Doing F1 while in space is not good. I consider it an act of cowardy.

Cardramine.... i found another member of their clan. The clan tag is: -=?=-
I dont know what their intentions are, but judging by their names (and cargo) i think we have another pirate faction here...

BTW, its not a logitech mouse, its an A4tech one (logitech one is too expensive for a mouse)...

Quantum, you're absolutely right. It's a shame because it spoils roleplay and player interaction. I've said it before - why play multiplayer if you want to use F1? You've made a mistake, you're in the wrong place at the wrong time - live with it. Short of attacking someone in New York or under the safe level (25 or 29?), it's the worst possible violation in my opinion. It ought to be a server rule.

Be careful not to jump to conclusions though - someone might get disconnected at an important moment, or a PC might crash (mine does sometimes because I built it :crazy: ) But if the pilot keeps appearing and disappearing, then that's F1.
Sadly I've seen this happen on another server - once things start to get hot, the F1'ers come out of the woodwork. F1'ers should be shown no mercy on this board. They won't get it from me, anyway.

But naming and shaming will only work to some degree - some players don't use this board, some keep changing characters and some characters are anonymous.
