Small graphical additions (Mini and Inferno) - Anonymous User - 09-07-2010 but thats normal disco... I have no modifications <div align="right]except sound and starspheres and HUD:D so maybe failed install? /edit: ninjad:D ' Wrote:I've noticed that, no matter WHAT weapon hits you, be it a SNAC, Mortar, even a Trebuchet, their explosion effects do not show to the victim of the shot when hit. They will show to others, just not the target's side. Small graphical additions (Mini and Inferno) - Fletcher - 09-07-2010 I may as well try a reinstall of Disco, my FL vanilla was re-installed two months ago. Though I couldn't see it prior to that, not even back in .84. Small graphical additions (Mini and Inferno) - Sand-Viper - 09-07-2010 As I recall, it did not have an explosion effect back in 4.84. It was just a dummy-fire torpedo that looked like a Sunslayer torp when flying, but just evaporated into the ship without an effect. Small graphical additions (Mini and Inferno) - Fletcher - 09-07-2010 Must be my end, I'll re-install tomorrow or something. Small graphical additions (Mini and Inferno) - GhostFace - 09-07-2010 SNAC definitely have an explosion making it possible, but I do agree, why not give Mini razor and inferno's graphics. Here's the problem, you're going to have to find someone who's willing to do it. Quote:As I recall, it did not have an explosion effect back in 4.84. This is true, but ideas came up, like this and that's how it got created. Same goes with any other graphics out there now, look at the Neutron Star, it was boring before. Small graphical additions (Mini and Inferno) - Irra - 09-08-2010 Is there anyone willing to do such thing.. I mean creating effects? Who knows how to do it? Or wait long long list until we get to point where everything is done except that.. It's not important that much when you think about it.. Small graphical additions (Mini and Inferno) - Recovery - 09-08-2010 If someone's gonna do this, they have to give the Siege cruiser forward gun an explosion too. It's an awesome looking projectile, but without an explosion it's pure fail. I am forced to play with sound off, so I don't even get to hear my "shield fail" warning. Changing the flight projectile is a balance thing (difficulty of spotting it, figuring out how far you need to go to dodge it, figuring out how good your aim is, etc). At present I think we're going to leave the MR alone on that front. The impact, however, can be pretty spectacular since these aren't rapid refiring weapons. Our crazy Scottish .ale person may or may not do something on that front for 4.86, but it has come up, and general dev consensus seems to match general player consensus- namely, big explosions are awesome. Speaking of awesome explosions, the siege cruiser forward cannon has come up in discussion a few times too. As for people making these effects, the '.ale' file format is involved somehow (and is puntacular, as seen above). I can't work 3-d editing programs for crap, and don't really know how it all works, but Lohingren and Kazsinal might. If you'd like to learn and help out, talk to one of them... I recommend Kazsinal, since he might respond. (Possibly with a "dammit Chris" but that's not my problem:D) |
