SR-71 "Blackbird" - Atomic.Blue - 09-07-2010

I think It would look great, and the Sr-71 Is my fav plane that came out of groom lake but its size and lack of armor would really suc for a bomber, a light fighter could take it out. But what the hell a few tweeks and mods and It would be a great Freelancer scout. Give it a cheetha thruster and a quick crussie charge with a few rear fireing turrents .. etc but thats just my 2 cents

SR-71 "Blackbird" - Sand-Viper - 09-07-2010

Although this would be pretty BA to fly around, its an import (From RL! Wut?).

And as I recall, there was but a single Blackbird lost to enemy fire. What happened was that the enemy discovered the flight path of one of the SR-71's. Using this knowledge of when and where the jet would be flying, they towed a fighter jet up into high atmosphere head-on at the Blackbird. After the towing aircraft was bingo on fuel, the jet disconnected, and flew on afterburner towards the oncoming SR-71. Using a single missile, head-on, the enemy jet shot and hit the Blackbird, instantly decimating it.

The reason behind this was that, the SR-71 was just to darn fast. Any and all missiles launched at it could be outmatched by the SR-71's speed. Thus, this is the only time a Blackbird was shot down.

But anywho, enough of the history lesson:laugh:.
