Hmph.. what woud happen if auto-aim was off for a day?
I would like to see it off once.. missiles would be used a bit more I guess It would be like..

When you select a lane ring, a small bracket will appear in the center of the ring that accords for the whole ring. Ever done pythagoras theorem? No? Well the idea is, if your facing the lane ring directly on the stellar plane. And you take a shot at the bracketed area, everything should be hunky dory and working properly. However, if you fancy your chances at shooting....say the bottom left ring component from the same point. The shot has to travel in depth as well as in length. So naturally, if you think about it, it's going to take longer for the shot to reach the target.
But scoot forward a bit and the shot should land nicely.

Nah. I don't use the rectile to aim my pulse/razor on my Gunboat, and I make plenty of kills. It's quite easy once you get used to it, mostly useful for hitting a target while turning sharply, which conicides perfectly with my gunboat strategy.
A good way to practice is to take missions versus weapons platforms, and try to blow them up while drifting.

If you play flight sims, you can learn to better judge your aim in relation to speed in direction. You can manually lead. I thank Crimson Skies for that. Despite palsy, I can generally aim towards the enemy and come close to hitting him.

A&L is indeed correct. It's the feeling that you get because you have to aim manually instead of letting the computer do it for you.
