The first building blocks of an indie pirate collective - Tomtomrawr - 09-11-2010 ' Wrote:I like the idea, could turn out to be an awesome addition to the current factions. Thanks Janseneh. <3 ' Wrote:I like the idea of a Pirate Union. The PU group, because they leave such a stink behind them... :)Exactly. Out of all the unlawful groups the Liberty Rogues are my favourite because they are just what pirates should be. They just want to get rich. On the wiki it says their primary goal is to free Liberty, but I never got a hint of any political goals when I was a member of LR-. So it's just people who want to get rich deciding they'd do it faster and have an easier job if they helped each other out. Quote:I could actually see quite a bit of forum RP out of something like this as well, because you could post 'news' reports of robberies on jewelry stores, bank robberies, and then every time you hit someone - even the ubiquitous civilian transports - you report it as a 'train' robbery. Our reputation would be a critical part of it. The image of the pirates determines how much money you make. When I started with Roger Claymore and went pirating in Omega-7, nobody paid me. It took about two days before I got paid for the first time. And now the normal miners there start typing /givecash Roger.Claymore 4000000 as soon as they see me appear on their sensors (although I don't see many of them anymore. Maybe I scared them all off:P). That's because my pirate now has a reputation as a fierce killer of people who decide not to pay his tax, so they pay. So whenever we did something worth talking about, like destroying several Colonials, then we're going to brag and brag and brag until our cheeks go red. And we can put RP news reports such as robberies on planets. Maybe even a few RP stories with police factions with them trying to catch us on the planets if they want. Quote:I think my pirate that mostly works around Rhienland would be interested in something like this group.Awesome, talk to me on Skype and I'll add you to the chat if you want to be a part of it. The first building blocks of an indie pirate collective - Tomtomrawr - 09-12-2010 We currently have four people involved. Me, Agmen, Curt and Ebon. If you want to be added to the Skype chat then just give me a shout. Comments posted here are appreciated. The first building blocks of an indie pirate collective - Tomtomrawr - 09-12-2010 A fifth person in the chat. The first building blocks of an indie pirate collective - Ash - 09-12-2010 My input. Remember that most successful factions don't start out with an ambition to be official. Just have fun. Do what your interested in, and what makes you happy. The first building blocks of an indie pirate collective - Tomtomrawr - 09-13-2010 ' Wrote:My input.I would doubt it would become official anyway. At the moment it's more of a Skype chat for independent pirates to organise together, but I hope it'll evolve into something resembling more of a faction. But everybody involved is still an independent pirate. And of course it's all for the fun. But recently there have been more incidents where I'm just utterly ganked, and I know other pirates have the same problem. And since independent pirates can be quite vulnerable against a sizeable force, sticking together would probably give us more of a chance so it would be more fun. And my indie pirate pretty much keeps me playing Disco right now.:P The first building blocks of an indie pirate collective - Strichev - 09-13-2010 Well I've tried something with similar thoughts in my mind quite some time ago. I have been naive and lacked a full understanding of how things work in RP and on the forums. It had a foolish name. However if I would have not used the term Guild.... http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...l=pirates+guild I like the general idea of this pirate union. No offence to you, of course. And I'm glad you like the idea. I guess that so many people are referring to it as the pirate union that may as well be the collective name, unless I think of anything better. |
