I've added BSG to the list of unofficial factions. As the CR is the official one. Perhaps one of the mods should update the official lists to reflect this.
At the moment it is not much confusion becausse the factions are politically very similar but as a noob myself lists like this are useful to get a handle on who is who.

At times half of the tags in-game are not part of the official factions.
It would be good to know what people have found out about these unofficial factions.
Hun|ter seems to be a new unofficial BH faction. They seem quite numerous are on line most of the time I am playing.
I would appreciate others adding to this thread as they find a tag that is unofficial but seems to have more than one player using it. I'm sure I myself will add some more as I come across them.

Ok, officially, an unofficial faction must have true members to make an official-unofficial and sanctioned faction. Voices in one's mind does not make you an official-unofficial faction not sanction by officials.
So, McEmpire does not get our nod for unofficial faction status, though, you may leave the reservation and declare your own official-unofficial-official faction thread, ow.

To be officially granted the title of unofficial faction you have to officially wear an unofficial faction tag or have some sort of official or unofficial quality that allows the rest of the community officially understand and recognize the members of your official unofficial faction as being such, as officially stated in the case of the MKs. Even though they don't have a official unofficial faction tag, they do have a official name format that gathers them as an unofficial faction.
EDIT: Damn, my hundredth post was something this silly? That's got to be a sign of the general quality of my contribution to this community.

Unless, overruled by the unsanctioned members of the unofficial council to regulate the official-unofficial thread. All resolutions binding only to those who desire such regulations to bind them. Really, my mind is now numb:)

This is getting delightfully silly...
... but to return to the reason for the original post it is to help sort out all of the prefix tags that people use.
If you fly together with no tag then it is not really helpful.
