Phantom Thread - BaconSoda - 11-24-2010 ' Wrote:Well you said yourself that you want to cooperate with unlawful factions. They can offer technology and bases to stay at, but what can you offer? We can offer services and money. The Rogues can't well present themselves as a problem if the Navy is constantly hounding them. We can provide a distraction for the Rogues to present themselves as a problem. Say they want to pirate in California, and they have been attacked by the same squadron from New York for the past 4 days. We can solve that problem for them and allow them to get more profits (either by distraction or annihilation), while at the same time they can present themselves as a more persistent threat than they really are (though they are pretty persistent anyway). How's about we don't kick the crap out of you again? ' Wrote:There is a thing I'm curious about. If you could imagine the way the Order was portrayed in SP, as something which almost nothing was known about but was seemingly everywhere, that is how I feel like the governments would portray us. We are terrorists, and we are absolutely evil, causing nothing but destruction, responsible for the worst crimes which cannot be explained (and also those which the government commits itself). As such, we are known by everyone, but we are not encountered. Good question. ' Wrote:Honestly speaking, I didnt read all your post but only the first part. Well there's your problem. That wasn't the important part. I even said that wasn't the important part. Apparently you didn't read very well. I don't care what people think about the story. It's a story. We can be terrorists because we say red is blue and we kill anyone who disagrees, that is just kind of the end of it. What is important is how I want to implement it, which no one has really touched on. Not only that, but your claims are completely unfounded. Let me enlighten you about a few things (no pun intended): Please read the restrictions of our ID on the tech chart. As you can see, we have fewer green boxes than someone with a Freelancer or Mercenary ID. We must ask factions and file SRPs for many of our ships. Those ships which we do have that are unique are mostly SRPs, such as Nightsmoke (Kusari Bomber), Pitchfork (Corsair Bomber), and Ze'ev Barak. They have been approves SRPs, tested by the community, not just the Admins, from before the time the current SRP rules were implemented. Everything else we have that is eccentric is either drawn from the small pool of ships (smaller than Junkers!) that we have access to or is a Phantom ship. Every single gun we use is a Phantom gun. There is not one person who does not use a complete loadout of Phantom guns. Where does anyone get this idea? Docking rights is not even our choice. We are playing our role of taking advantage of the unlawfuls, if someone else has a problem, its his turn to RP with us, FR 5 us, or just ask us OoRP to be hostile. Everything we do is the result of an RP interaction. I honestly never do something to someone I would be surprised by. None of the other Phantoms would either, that is why they are Phantoms. Everything we do is because someone did something to us or refused to do something. It's like RP has consequences. We do not have any special treatment by the rules. We must follow all rules just like everyone else. The difference is that our ID allows our five capital ships to engage traders and we may just kill traders who don't stop without demanding credits. For any Phantom who is not BaconSoda, Zelot, Virus, or Shagohad (the four people which have capital ships), it is not different than being a pirate. At all. This kind of thing is not what this thread is for. Please take the time to peruse our 45 page Feedback Thread of these exact questions to address all of your concerns, because it has been done multiple times. You can probably stop on page 5. When you've done that, please come back and comment on the ideas I had on having fun for everyone. Phantom Thread - Huhuh - 11-24-2010 ' Wrote:We do not have any special treatment by the rules. Quick note, never use your five cap ship argument. Many factions don't even have caps and so you have infinitely more caps than them. I'm not sure on how many phantoms there are, but I assume you players that have access to caps to players without access to caps ratio is high. Phantom Thread - Snoozzzer - 11-24-2010 Hate to contradict you...well actually, I don't mind. There are two phooms who do, or at least did use non-phantoms guns. Specifically, Xeno guns on some shadow and Tizona turrets on Ivan's P-trans. Oh, and that Osiris. Really though, your point about using your own tech is kinda...well just look at their stats. (Though yeah, I've got to say that shadow of yours is a pita to fly) Now what was this thread for again.... Oh yes. Your point of wanting to change lives through fear, good to know. No, it really is good to know. We now have a better idea of what is wanted of us to expect when encountering your boys. "Oh god, oh god, please, I have a wife and 3 kids" will be how I start off my next encounter with you lot. Or some terror driven, graphic release of bowels in the face of death. Whichever Phantom Thread - HuggieSunrise - 11-24-2010 ' Wrote:How's about we don't kick the crap out of you again? HEY.. quit touching yourself! Really? Wouldn't that be exhausting? Pointless.. and oh .. yes all importantly a waste of your breath? The point of calling that little cease fire what it is should be concentrated on. If all parties after a time find something they wish to exchange it would be a better environment for doing so.. for say.. there has been no homicidal uneasiness for a while. trust may grow.. *gasp* maybe respect. Congress and Phantoms Or any or all the unlawfuls cooperating is a shifting... weird process needs always change and rp changes... cept welll... a few guys. yeah you guys. Which makes any agreement with the phantoms..past.present.and future tenuous because they don't "need" anything. As for why the "qq" for phantom "pewpew" is moot. The swagger, a choice few display, leaves abit to be desired. That fact should be abundantly clear as to why people are crying... This thread is drenched in it and everything you guys do reek of the glistening sweat covered hairy hand of masturbation. More factually however... Whether through fault of poor observation or a loss of communication to the contrary... the faction has.. vary little to get behind for the "noob" other then.. Blast away at will after "insert macro rp here". Everyone does this regaurdless.. so what could it be? maybe its the particular privilege of the id? makes you different.. like a pink baboon that gets killed when the other baboons FREAK OUT AT THE PINK BABOON... People should learn that like and dislike on the internet is like diet dr pepper and RC cola They are both poor imitations of the real thing.. which is..crackcocaine. Phantom Thread - lw'nafh - 11-24-2010 ' Wrote:HEY.. quit touching yourself! Hey now, it probably isn't my place to comment (and sorry if you don't want me to) but isn't that a little hostile and... mmm... How do I put it... Oversimplified? I'm sure if you put a bit more thought into it you'd have realised that nothing is as black and white as that, and avoided making this rage post. Chill man, chill. Phantom Thread - pipboy - 11-24-2010 ' Wrote:you dock with factions although they are hostile to youI'd just like to point out that the Phantoms have the most detailed and accurate repninja of any other faction in game. If someone is hostile to us, it is quite impossible for us to dock there. I'm not even going to touch the rest as Bacon covered it all pretty nicely. Phantom Thread - Varyag - 11-24-2010 OK, I'll bite. Yeah, I have an issue with the faction. Funny thing is that I like most of the players in it. Point 1: You took my damn slippy. Yup! That beautiful little 6 gunner monstrosity that I would pirate in. You took it, decided it wasn't 1337 enough then boosted the heck out of it. Just give me back the ship Lance. It was a good ship and I like it..... Now, I had been using the dern thing since before I even knew there was a forum in early 4.83. In 4.85 I was told that almost 2 years of RP in the ship was null and void because "we want it, it is ours now. Keep it and you get banned." Wasn't it a phantom that stated during the beta phase that when I said when you can pry it from my cold dead fingers that they would just cut my hands off? Now, I was pissed about my slippy, just because I loved it, had a history with it and it was kind of Basilisk's calling card. I basically stopped playing that character after I lost the ship. My only alternative was the scimitar and it is as big as a heavy fighter. Others were mad because they invested in the corsair cruiser and claws (I had 2 of them with my LSF characters which were just as old as Basilisk) and were told the same thing. Lose it or we sanction you. Not here is a prefect or hey, want me to send you to a different system to get a ship? Nope, just the boot I got. So yeah, ship lulz. Point 2: Use of phantoms as server police. Fighters with bomber power cores because someone Q_Q'd about a cap swarm. I know an admin got a slap on the wrist for it... but fighters with bomber power cores. I wasn't in said capswarm, just read about it on the forums. nuff said. Point 3: General attitude of some players. I have had, over the course of the years. the following happen with phantoms, Q_Qing over private coms about fights. For a long time. Planet/Sun Diving because they were about to die Snide remarks Q_Qing when I wouldn't join them as unlawfulls in a fight. (granted they were getting uber ganked) I have been jumped 3 on 1 at gates by them. But Q_Qing about phantom gank would be just silly considering what they have to deal with every time they go out. Then again, they have the mighty slipstream. You can get out of anything in a slippy. Ask me how I know. Common, even in Conn you guys planet dive. Now I am not saying that all of them do this as a habit, not at all. But, for such a watched group, I would expect things so be a little more dignified. So yeah, there ya go. I know I am going to be called the same things I have before for this post, but hey you asked. I give you props Bacon for having the balls to make this topic. Phantom Thread - Cond0r - 11-24-2010 That is a mighty fine wall of text you have there my good sir. All the people that have issues with the Phantoms are just jealous cuz you get lamia sabres ol' chap, so to fix all them issues, I suggest you just make the lamias and your ships available for public use. srs: I think the phoons are just fine. Although I haven't seen one in a while, could be a timezone issue. Phantom Thread - schlurbi - 11-24-2010 What's so bad about Planet Diving? Soon People will complain about running away from a Fight or what? :l I don't get why everyone is crying about that Slipstream or that other Ship. Vayrag is not the only one. Phantom Thread - AJBeast - 11-24-2010 I don't think that the problem with the Phantoms is their RP per se, but how most of your members end up representing it ingame. Firstly, I'm sure there're plenty of other ways to incite fear other than laughing maniacally and blasting away. Secondly, I have yet to see the "sparing" bit. Ever. Or directly know of anyone who was "spared". You might want to work on making that bit more visible. Of course, I could also rant about how the RP concept itself would translate ingame into something that would never be accepted by todays standards, but I've given up on ranting about things that would never change. PS: You could always put some more restrictions on your ID. That'd shut up at least the portion of your haters that complain about your "go everywhere, kill everything" freedom. |
