Then the best I can suggest would be to aim very carefully. ;) Which is hard to do I know, especially when you've got "incoming missile", "shield failed" and "hull breach" warnings going off. :D Newest Version of Clan Wars - Virus - 01-08-2006 Titus,Jan 6 2006, 05:31 AM Wrote:The rules are pretty good, but they only mention big battles. What about minor skirmishes and ambushes ? ;) That would be left as just simple attacks of war. They don't fall under system-wars, or massive fleet battles. They would hold only significance to trade routes, etc.... Not needed here. Korrd Wrote:I like the rules. But you should add a "If a player is killed, he cant switch to a bigger ship than the previous one". That will avoid a player in a fighter to respawn in a BS. I left that out because Igiss, if I remember correctly, didn't like that rule. Fire_Tzunami Wrote:But what about NPCs that attack u because of the nova's splash damage? Well.... I may add a rule about no F1ing. That is especially honorless in a battle like this because not only would it have the NPCs leave you alone, it would give you full shields again. Newest Version of Clan Wars - Ares - 01-08-2006 Until now the rules are quite good i think :) .. but what should a character do, if the reallife calls him "away from pc" ? What will happen to the whole battle if a player has to leave the battle for short time or even to go off completely ?! hmm im not sure how to make a rule/rules about this topic   ... any ideas ? Newest Version of Clan Wars - Virus - 01-08-2006 Wow..... Um.... I'm not sure if they should be eliminated or what. That's a tough question. The only thing is, you can't be sure that they left do to "real life" situations. I can see someone abusing the rule if we were to allow it. Newest Version of Clan Wars - urgel - 01-08-2006 i had a real life situation once, was heading for the nearest dock when 2 SF guys started hunting me. shot one till he killed himself with a nova and ran away.... anyway, if anyone has a reallife situation i think they should be allowed to dock depending on the circumstances :D Newest Version of Clan Wars - Virus - 01-10-2006 I've made it so you can no longer fight once you F1. There is no way to tell if you F1ed to get your shields back, or if there was a real reason to do so. Newest Version of Clan Wars - Igiss - 01-10-2006 I suppose that using battleships after fighters should not be allowed. Bringing in a fully outfitted battleship in the end of fight could turn the tides of the whole combat, and surviving in an agile fighter at the edge of battlefield is not so difficult. So those who prefer using battleships should start with them, and have some trouble struggling for their ships' survival. I actually did propose that players should be able to use bss after fighters in the past, but then someone convinced me that I was wrong. F1 should be prohibited under any circumstances, I agree with Virus on that. Generally, apart from battleship/fighter ordering issue, I'd support those rules. Bringing in a fully outfitted battleship in the end of fight could turn the tides of the whole combat. I think I see your point here, at the very end of a battle some players would have also been eliminated. Bring in a BS at that point and it has a lot fewer opponents to deal with. How about this, given a player has a choice of 3 ships and only 1 of which may be a larger vessel, how about just offering three options for ship selection: F F F F BS F BS F F Thus, you get the benefit of fighter vs fighter at the end but also allow for some strategy. Newest Version of Clan Wars - Igiss - 01-10-2006 Like I said, it's not difficult to survive in a fighter and not to engage at all, you'll never be able to prove that someone who was present in the system was avoiding combat. So I suppose that only 2 combinations may exist: F F F and BS F F BS here is any capital ship. Gunboats, cruisers, liners and battleships. You may use transports all 3 times if you like, so they don't count as capital here :) Newest Version of Clan Wars - Korrd - 01-10-2006 Igiss,Jan 10 2006, 06:44 AM Wrote:Like I said, it's not difficult to survive in a fighter and not to engage at all, you'll never be able to prove that someone who was present in the system was avoiding combat. So I suppose that only 2 combinations may exist:I agree. Surviving in a fighter against a BS is not that hard. Ive fought a huegenot, a dreadnought and a cruiser at the same time during the last =?= encounter, and Isurvived long enough to take down the huegenot and the dreadnought with my bomber. So, as long as you have countermeasures, you can avoid the BS missiles and stay alive to bomb the BS (or BS's). |
