I have never restricted traders through any system I've owned. Even in the RP event in Rheinland I allowed traders in unconditionally.

oh, Bull, Dab.

You kicked me and one other kid out when we tried to trade VIPs from Cambridge to Honshu??? Remember that???

and we were TRADERS at the time. Not in our faction characters.

That only lasted a week and that was because it was the week LS and SDF (SF) declared war on us.

You still don't get it do you?

We were not trading as SDF/LS members.. we were just traders and you still booted us.

So you cannot say "you never restricted...."

Yes, I'm being an ass Cause i don't have much patience for people who say one thing and go do another.

Hypocrite I think is the word your looking for. :)

I have a slightly different opinion on this...

Rules prohibit joining 2 different factions with only exception of Phantom (as long as they don't have systems). I suppose that if characters joined a faction, other characters (level 30 and more) of same account are also involved, especially higher-level traders that are used for earning money. So if Dab knew who you are, I suppose that he had a right to do what he did in this case.

There should be room for us all. Both those that want a place of their own to control, and people who just want to peacefully fly where they want, and others for that matter.

I can see your point, but unfortunately these two are exact opposites. You want to tax any player entering your system I want to be left alone. So now what happens? Should you be allowed to tax me, or should I be allowed to pass through your system without incident? Either way, one of us will be unhappy

In the end, I think that FireBirds suggestion makes good sense. Let faction players fight it out, and leave the rest of us alone.

Just to play the Devils Advocate. What happens if I have two characters: f2k-trader and f2k-mean_pirate, and I decide to join the Traders Guild? With your suggestion, that would mean that my pirate is now also a part of the Traders Guild and that makes no sense at all!

I agree that players should not be allowed to use a freelance trader to earn money for their faction characters, but forcing all of a players characters into the same faction is just no doable.
But on the other hand, I also understand that it would be impossible to check whether or not a player is using a freelancer trader to earn money for a faction

Hmm, what to do

How about only enforcing this rule for characters with similar reputation? That is, all characters with a lawfull reputation can be in one faction and all characters with a pirate reputation can be in another. No more, no less.
Is this even feasible? Can you make a program that checks this, or would it have to be done manually?

Generally, you can additionally join a faction that has no systems like Phantom. Lawfuls may be hostile to each other, so joining several lawful factions is unacceptable. Joining more than 1 system-owning faction is unacceptable anyway. Play fair.

And most, if not all, faction players use traders, neutral or not, for supplying themselves and their teammates. I cannot oblige traders to gain appropriate faction rep, cause many people will ignore this and preserve their neutral reps to make trading easier.
