The BGH battleship should remind you of that, actually, considering it's a remodel of a 12 year old ship. These ships are remodels of the old models made for FreeSpace 1 and FreeSpace 2. The first has always been one I am not a fan of, and the second and third have awful texturing, and the third has awful detail, which is what makes them look bad.
It's not as if FreeLancer has a ship design to offer which could beat any of the three, however. That being said, I don't think they should be imported as Discovery has been trying to move away from imports for at least two years now.

While ships from the FreeSpace series are indeed incredibly awesome and inspired, the natural Disco 'OMG IMPORT' laws apply here. I however could see some ships being slightly inspired by some of the ships you have here.
